What to do When You Lost Your Main source Of Income

I sent a message to my sister who is living in a nearby city to inform her of the latest site where she can earn from online. Her reply made me felt sad because she said that maybe she can concentrate on this thing on the following month because her company will now be closing and she don’t have a job anymore. My sister is working as a medical transcriptionist in a small company in their place. She has 3 children ages 2, 8 and 12 respectively. Her husband is working in a small store with a minimum wage of 252 pesos ($6.30) per day. If she will lose her job, it would be another burden for them and for my mother as well who lives in the same place. I told her to continue searching for jobs online because I know there are site which are offering that kind of job. Personally, I do not know about this kind of job. Does anybody here can recommend a site that offers medical transcription job? I am also contemplating on the idea of putting up an internet shop so that she can be the one to manage it and at the same time she can work online during free time. I would like to solicit your views and opinions regarding this matter. Have a great day everyone!

so sorry to hear about your sister and the probability of her losing her source of income. She has a month, still right? I think she can take a leave (paid ones) and start applying for a job. There are a lot of call centers now in manila and they would even pay her more for her skills of medical transcribing. She must try not to limit herself with what she knows at this time, there are a lot of opportunities out there. Online tasks cannot be our main source of income, unless ours is a very popular blog with good number of hits a day, or an online store... online jobs are mostly not as much as we would hope it to be and most pay in cents and during a certain time only. this is not very dependable as well - too much risk, especially if she has 3 kids already that is depending on her. Although she can try Odesk, but of course it is still different when you have a job offline.

It's hard being away from the kids and you would never know what they will be when they grow up. a lot of parents work away from kids at home but after years of doing that they come home seeing their children so different from what they have known when they were kids. but that's the fear and the problem when there's no job opportunity in your own place, you get to find work some where.

Hi chiyosan! We are far from manila and I remember once she was able to get a job there and after two weeks she returned home because she cannot stand being away from her children. I hope she find an online job because I know her job is also online, although she has a boss and she is just an employee. I'll tell her to try odesk. Thank you for sharing!

If she loses her job, she will have to find a similar job offline. I don't think there will be one online for such a job.

Hi yanzalong! The problem is, it would be harder for her to find a new job because she is already 38 years old. Most often, companies would prefer younger employees. Well, hopefully she would be able to find a new job after this. Thank you for sharing!

Hello Aries, that's simple to say but really hard to do and that is look for another job and get to stay for a couple of months. for me, it takes dedication to just think it and post it online most specially if you are much involved with writing your post in sites like mylot or an article. it's never easy but i guess she can be inspired and have self determination.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister's predicament, I just hope she can find work soon. It's good that you are encouraging her to look for online job. As you have said, she works as a medical transcriptionist before and I think it's an on line job too so, she is more than qualified to accept online jobs. She could search some sites that offers that kind of work, I know there are many to choose from.

Well, till she gets a job she can try freelancing sites for things. The sites like Odesk, elance and freelancer should help. There should be jobs for medical transcription available there.Plus, she can also try other jobs which are inline with her interests. But then it will go a long way before she can start earning over there. It is never too easy for a newcomer in those sites, unless and until one is very lucky. It might be hard, but still if you could get any earnings, things would be better.Internet shop is a good idea, but then you need to get good items and traffic.Well, its not easy there either.Plus it should be something she has interest and is also ok with it.Otherwise, she might have a burn out.Well, one reason most people are into passive and online income is to help during times of crisis. It also helps in saving for the rainy day.I am trying to make my online income as good as possible to meet my expenses and help me in making it as the number one source of income. So far, i have not been successful and well the journey is continuing is continuing in spite of that.Hope i could make the things in the times to come.I wish so.Thanks!

I also hope that she can find a good job online. I know it would be very difficult if we don't have a source of income nowadays. Personally, I have my permanent job and earning some amount online still I find it difficult how much more if we don't have a job. Thank you for sharing!

I think it's wonderful that you are helping your sister, and also sad that she is to lose her job, so commonplace now, doesn't matter where you are in the world, it seems people are losing their jobs is becoming a worrying trend. I truly wish I could offer up some great ideas to earn online but I have become real disillusioned with it all, and I've just ceased my affiliate marketing activities. There is too much competition out there and too many sites are becoming scams. I found I was spending far too much time for too little gain. I wish your sister all the best and hope she finds something that can support her and her family very soon.

Hi wolfie! Being a sister, it is my obligation to make sure that everything is okay in our family even though I am already have my own family. That is how we give importance to our family. this is one of the good values in our country, the close family ties. Yes, I hope she will be able to get a good source of income in order to support her family. She already signed up on the site that I recommend to her and hopefully, she can start soon. Thank you for sharing!

At least, she knows in advance that there is the likelihood that she will be losing her job. This gives her time to work on making connections and applying to various positions right now. While one can make a decent amount of money through online sources, it is extremely difficult to do so. Even for those who have spent years working at least part-time to earn money through online sources, it is very difficult to earn the equivalent of what one would earn at a good full-time position outside of the home. While your sister may be able to earn some money to help keep her family afloat, it is extremely unlikely that she is going to be able to earn online the same amount she is bringing in with her current job.

Hi wilson! Perhaps she can also do it because the job which she currently have is an online job. Hopefully she could find a good site to work with. Well, on the matter regarding online earning, I am positive that if we only work hard, we would be able to gain success from this career. I have no doubt about it. we just have to find the proper site and of course we should be hardworking and more focus on our work. I am sure that we can earn more from online. Thank you for sharing!

This has not happen to me in over 12 years and that was my fault. I quit my job before I had enother one lined up! That was a dumb thing to do especially with me having to move to another apartment besides! I hated the job and the owners of the building I lived above decided to sell the place. The new owners wanted to remodel the place. It was not a good situation at all! I did fine a place with an unnderstanding landlord. With a new job it took 6 months to find one! My advice is: never quit a job unless another one lined up! Otherwise you are making things worse for yourself!

Hi blue! She did not quit the job, the company will be closing because it is already bankrupt. This is one of the common problems when working in a private company. I am hoping that everything goes fine as it will be very for her if she will not be able to find another job. Thank you for sharing!

There are a lot of job posting on medical transcriptions at odesk. Why not let her check it out. Your idea of putting up an internet shop is also a great idea. You can add services like typing and photocopying as well.

I am so sorry that your sister is losing her job. I wish I knew about medical transcription jobs online. I guess she could sign up for one of those job sites where you bid on jobs. One begins with an 'e' but I don't remember it. I tried it out writing for a guy on there and he wasn't satisfied. He asked for a certain percent if keywords and I did that and said it was too much. His fault for asking for it. There are a few sites that let you bid on jobs. I just don't know their names.

salary, main income - it is very important to have main income.
It is a hard time for her, I'm sorry to hear that she will loose her job. I think it's a good idea if you open an online shop and let her manage it. May be she can try from now looking for a part time job in her neighbourhood before she loose her main job.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that about your sister. Especially now that times are hard and there are more people looking for jobs than the actual jobs out there. And she's also got kids. Your idea for putting up an internet shop sounds good, but I hope you have checked the feasibility of such business in the area where you plan to put it up. Of course you must be aware that the first year might not earn any income at all so she really must have another sideline to at least tide or help out for a while. Anything is better than nothing.

Hi Raine! Yes it is really hard if we don't have permanent source of income. Personally, I know it is really difficult, I personally have a permanent job and still I find it hard to make ends meet much more if we don't have a job. Yes putting up a business really needs careful planning. This will be my last option if ever she was not able to find a good job. I really love to have my own internet shop but since I have a full time job, I cannot pursue this plan. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Aries, i'm sorry to hear your sister is about to lose her job. Unfortunately i don't know any website where she can use her skills as a medical transcriptionist but i hope she'll find a way to support her family. Maybe you'll succeed with the internet shop, you should give it a try.

hi friend. i'm really sorry for your sister, but here in out country, time and time again i have been telling people to adjust in these difficult times there is no such thing as a "main source of income" You might have a good job even abroad but think you have to learn to invest or make your money earn, again no such as a thing now as main source of income like before but rather posture yourself to different streams of multiple incomes, it's like a plane with double engine, if one engine goes out then there is a spare that would get you through even though it would sometimes mean a crash landing. Multiple income for me is the way to go at these difficult times

Hi louie! I was telling her the very same thing before. But of course most often when problems came, we being the close relatives will always be there to help. Anyway, I am thinking of some solutions which could be of help and hopefully everything just went fine. Thank you for sharing!
