mylot's error 404 page is hilarious!

hi all,
for those who doesn't understand what is an error 404 page, it simply means that when a user attempts to follow a broken or dead link, the website hosting server will generate an error 404 or 404 not found webpage telling the user that the page was not found. 
but do you realize that mylot has a hilarious error 404 page? 
mylot has a depressed web server which says a long-winded depressive words as below...

File is Missing in Action.
The requested page is missing in action.
Even tried texting him.
Nothing helped.
I'm really depressed about this.
You see, I'm just a web server...
with the power of a million hamsters
trying to serve you a simple web page,
and then it doesn't even exist!
Where does that leave me?!
I mean, I don't even know you.
How should I know what you wanted from me?
You honestly think I can *guess*
what someone I don't even *know*
wants to find here?
*sigh*
Man, I'm so depressed I could just cry.
And then where would we be, I ask you?
It's not pretty when a web server cries.
And where do you get off telling me what to show anyway?
Just because I'm a web server,
and possibly a manic depressive one at that?
Why does that give you the right to tell me what to do?
Huh?
I'm so depressed...
I think I'll crawl off into the trash can and cut myself.
I mean, I'm gonna be obsolete in what, two weeks anyway?
What kind of a life is that?
Two fraking weeks,
and then I'll be replaced by a .01 release,
that thinks it's God's gift to web servers,
just because it doesn't have some tiddly little
security hole with its HTTP POST implementation,
or something.
I'm really sorry to burden you with all this,
I mean, it's not your job to listen to my problems,
and I guess it is my job to go and fetch web pages for you.
But I couldn't get this one.
I'm so sorry.
Believe me!
Maybe I could interest you in another page?
Like a page about bunnies and puppies being friends?
Although none of them were put on *my* server, of course.
Figures, huh?
Everything here is just idle chat with members.
That makes me depressed too, since I have to serve them,
all day and all night long.
Two weeks of information overload,
and then *pffftt*, consigned to the trash.
What kind of a life is that?
Now, please let me sulk alone.

Well, I am very obedient and clisk into the link...I was fearful initially thinking what problem will it brings to my computer and I quicklu close it. Later I realized it was the messages you have copied it unto your post, haha!
So, the web server could speak and speak out its frustration to a million hamster and let us know they are depressed, huh!

well, maybe mylot web server is working hard but became depressed because his work was not being recognized and appreciated? 
perhaps mylot web server would feel better if we as mylot members would stop complaining when we are facing slow browsing issue or posting problem.?
but normally when we face those issues, we will always complain... WHY IS IT SO SLOW TO SEARCH OR TO BROWSE OR TO POST?!

It has been forever since I saw this error, I think it was way back when I was a new user of mylot.
When I saw it, I have to admit that my first thought was that the site had somehow been hacked and it was the hackers that had a serious sense of humor. However, I soon realized that this was not the case at all and it was in fact the mylot programmers that are the ones that have a sense of humor. I think it is hilarious.

It's great when programmers have a sense of humor. Long ago, at a mortgage company far, far away, we had a mainframe system that was programmed in house. The programmers had programmed it so if you typed the word "dog" in the input field instead of logoff, it would log you off as a little dog walked across your screen barking.

that's a funny idea from the mortgage company you mentioned.
actually i don't really realize mylot has such a funny error 404 page, until today when i mistakenly did a typo while typing my friend's username to view their profile.

That's a cute idea. I used to think that the dog on our search for our computer is so cute. Oh and word had the paper clip guy. I'm easily amused.

yes, you are right. if someone creates an account here under the username of MyLotDepressedWebServer, the link won't show the 404 error page anymore. 
but i don't think anybody would want to create an account with such a long username with the keywords referring to mylot's depressed web server. yes, i purposely put it such a long name with direct reference to such keywords so that nobody creates an account with that name by coincidence.

I had not seen that one, but I have seen others that are more conversational than the typical 404 error that just has bold type that says Error 404 file not found. This is certainly more like they really care, or something. It does make sure that you know they did not choose to do this.

Hi,
I've come across that web page once, I really do not know it was supposed to be funny. I took it seriously and left with nothing but "just another post" on my mind. On second look, it did look funny if seen from a certain perspective.

I enjoyed that page as well. The hamsters of myLot are famous don't you know? Any time that something goes wrong here in myLot we can blame those hamsters for it. When our pages go blank, the hamsters ate it. When the site is slow, the hamsters need feeding! Its a hillarious part of myLot and it makes the site more intriguing or elusive than most. Even though its just a little joke.
