I share am! I have a laptap now as some of you know. My battery went dead on it last night. I went to buy a new one today and went into shock at the price! One was $80.00 and the other was $100.00! I had to pass on it! I didn't have that amount to buy one! It will have to wait. In the mean time when I got the computer I didn't realize it had a battery, at first. I didn't use it alot with just the battery. I didn't realize I didn't have to have it plugged in with a battery in use! Now I realize that and until I get WiFi and afford a new battery,my computer is not going very far!

I do think learning is a process we all are using....even in other places in life. Getting a new computer would give you reason to learn all kinds of new thing...each has a different program etc....like going from windows to vista etc. But I do also think learning is good for us....so have fun learning about your new computer!

I never looked at it this way! All this is a learning process! Just like life is! I still have not completely learned Windows 7 which my brother installed on my computer! That is another learning process!

I was told by the last tech I talked to that actually keeping the battery out of the computer saved on wear of the computer. A used batter will be less expensive but of course it won't last you as long.

Unless you are going to use the laptop mobile some places I would just leave the battery out of it.

Yeah, they sure are expensive but if you plug it in the battery should recharge itself.

Since I started this discussion I have found out the computer does charge up as long as I keep the computer plugged in! I am learning more and more about computers by the day! It is mind blowing!

My battery is pretty bad in my lap top too. It probably works for about 5 mins before I need to plug it in. Luckily, I only use it at home anyway. I only paid 125.00 for this re-built one and I've already sunk another 120.00 into for a new motherboard when one of my daughter's friends' little girl knocked over a drink that had been sitting right by the computer and fried it. Oh and also replaced the keyboard for 20.00. I can't afford to put another dime into right now.

About 2 months ago my computer programer brother sent me a laptop as you might know. I will take care of it. If I have any major problems with it I can have him work on it. Right now I won't get another computer battery. Some people have suggested e-bay and not keeping the battery in the computer unless I need it. So I will do that. If my brother can't help or I don't want to bother him I can take my computer to the IT department at work.

Flea markets or pawn shops? I don't think so! The persons comment before yours suggested e-bay to find another battery. I am sure this is the way to go!

When I get my first laptop, I didn´t care about its battery either and I ruined it really quickly. And then I found out that new one is about 80 euros (100 dollars) and I couldn´t afford that as a student. I learned my lesson and know I care not even about battery, but about everything in my laptop. But same as you, I am still learning about computers - I am not an expert yet, but I know quite a lot (for a girl) :).

Alots of people have suggested looking for a battery on E-bay. I am going to put that on the back burner for now. I really don't have money to afford one at this time. Other people suggest leaving the battery out of computer. I will do that for now.

Hi, Right now, I have my own computer. Its power supply has been running for almost ten years or so. I have it assembled from salvaged and recycled parts given to me by my friend at the computer shop where he worked. If one part broke, all I have to do is look for another compatible discarded part and pop it in and it is back to business. My actual cost in making this computer is almost nothing. My computer is a black box desktop PC, a real workhorse that can churn any task and if I need to upgrade it, I can do it easily enough to tackle that high resolution game or audio-video editing works 24/7. A laptop, costing many times over and can easily go down after a year or so with no chance of replacement or repair, can't even match the performance of my PC with salvaged parts.

Hello, well my aunt have bought battery replacements for her laptop from ebay and the replacements worked well. However, you should also be aware that some or perhaps most of the cheap laptop batteries on ebay are class A or imitations from China, thus you should not expect performance or quality like the genuine ones that retail for a hundred dollar. Also, there's a big risk when buying counterfeit laptop batteries, since not only they might have performance issues but depending on the quality of their built, they might cause dangerous damage to your computer in some occasion. Thus, I really recommend that you try to save money and go for a genuine one, you can also find genuine laptop chargers on ebay, honestly, I would even recommend that you try second-hand genuine laptop chargers, just be sure to buy one from a credible seller and test it well before buying.

Never knew I could have all this trouble if I decide to buy a computer battery on E-Bay! I never have bought anything off E_Bay in my life! A friend would do it for me and I would pay him back. Anyway this is something to think about if I go this way.

the best thing to do is to go on ebay and bid for a battery for it you can also found cheap ones dont buy batterys from instore it costs alot more buy off the internet as thats cheaper :)
