Another Update On My Daughter-In-Law

I just got off the phone with my son and they are keeping Janie in the hospital for sure tonight. She still has swelling on the brain and they want to watch her very closely. He said what happened is the cinch on her saddle broke and when the saddle slid, she fell off and hit the concrete. They were trotting the horses so this made it a little bit harder of a fall.

I definitely agree. I know how she is and if she went home she would want to be doing things. I told her when she does go home that I have a few easy things she can do when she feels up to it. All she would have to do is search the internet for some info. I hope all is well with you.

Yes, sometimes they go home and they tell them not to let them sleep long. This way nurses and dr. can check on them more.

Oh my goodness! Poor gal! I will say a prayer on her behalf in hopes she'll be alright. She'll probably have a big headache for a few days along with a knot on her head where she hit the concrete. Hope she recovers quickly and all ends well!

Sorry to hear this and hope she'll be fine soon. I've fall once but so lucky that it was a good fall or else I could have break a bone or two. It was an unexpected event- my uncle forgot to adjust the saddle. It was fastened too loose, so as the horse turn left (or right, can't remember then) I just fall off on the ground. I'd hurt my shoulder, nothing more than that.

Thanks, jaiho. You were very lucky. It is so easy to forget to recheck the cinch and make sure it is tight. Her cinch broke. I bet they check that saddle real close before she uses it again.

Oh no ... that is terrible. I hope she is getting better now. Pray that she will have speedy recovery. Horse riding is indeed a dangerous sport. Extra care needed and sometimes accidents do happen. Have a good rest and hope she will be back as normal soon.

Thanks, Iriene88. I haven't heard anymore from my son so I am praying things are ok. I was hurt on a horse years ago but I was only 16. I was in the hospital for 5 days with injuries to my pelvic area. But she is in her 40's and a head injury is so much different.

Oh my. I haven't seen your previous posts. Was she conscious even after she fell? That is so scary.

Hi AmbiePam. Yes, she was out for a bit. My son was at work but she was with other people. Thank goodness they got help right away. I think back when I fell off a horse but thank goodness I didn't hit my head.

hi Velvet wow that concrete is the worst stuff for falls.I am glad that they are taking good care of her, watching her closely and keeping her in overnight as she is right where she needs to be if there is any problems at all My prayers go out to you and yours that she will heal swiftly with no complications.

Good morning, Hatley. Your prayers and concerns are so appreciated. I haven't heard from my son this morning so I am taking that as a good sign. Janie will be sore for awhile but if she rests she will heal faster. I can see her now talking away on her phone while lying in the hospital bed. Hugs to you.

Thanks, cynthiann. I hope so too. My son is a mess right now and I can't blame him. But he is holding together and doing his best. He is trying to keep on working and then spending as much time as he can with Janie.

Yes, it was a nasty fall. She is still in the hospital and I don't know when they will release her. My son is holding up pretty well, just wearing himself down. He feels it is best that she stays there until the doctors feels it is safe for her to go home. Thank you for everything.

Wow, that don't sound good. But I hope she gets better and recovers from that fall. Like I said I am sure they are going to monitor her for some time. These things can have effects latter on in life. Hitting the concrete had to hurt and thats why this happened. If it were dirt it might have been lesser of an injury.

I wish it had been dirt. She is doing pretty good right now but one never knows. My oldest sons ex-wife had a head injury and it really messed her up. I am just thankful they are both a live.
9 Apr 13
Sorry to hear that but hopefully she will recover quickly and fully. Im a big believer in thinking positively so keep your head up and send my well wishes and thoughts :)

Thanks, sparky3dfan. I believe in positive thinking also. She is a pretty tough gal so if she does what she is told she should do ok.

Yes, T Lilly, I am very worried about her. Head injuries are nothing to mess with and take lightly. To be honest, if she stayed in the hospital for a few more days I would be very happy.
