Memorable Weddings

I have been to three weddings that were not the norm.
One was at a Local Park in West Phoenix and the bride and groom were married while on the Swings and wow did they swing high. The swings were decorated as were the tables.
There was a tape player and music was playing and lots of food was brought. The bride had been
married before and she had children, she just wore a nice street dress. It was a lot of fun and different.
The second unusual wedding I went to was at a Lake in Oklahoma where they had rented the pavillion for the day.
Everyone was asked to bring a dish and there was a large variety of food, a music player was brought and there was lots of music, it was decorated very nice and was a lot of fun also
. You could hear the sounds of the Lake and they were dressed in Western Clothing which was unusual..
The third unusual wedding I went to was a gal I worked with was in a motorcyle gang and she was being married in Phoenix on South Mountain, she wore black and a lot of the grooms friends with motorcycles were there.
I was really amazed at how much fun I had. It was fun with dancing and lots of booze.
Have you been to any unusual out of the norm Weddings.

@Marcyaz I love it. And I get emotional when it is someone I know well.

@Marcyaz yes they are. But things sure have changed in our world. The traditional has changed. Well that's all I'll say on the subject as it is a sticky one

These sound very nice. I recall one I went to years ago that was in a backyard. It was done with a Hawaiian theme. Had decorations and foods that were all Hawaiian. It was lovely and the food delicious.

All eyes are generally on the bride.

@Marcyaz It was many years ago but I believe there was not. Either that or eyes were more on the bride.

I saw one on youtube and it had me all in tears. What a loving father... blessed is the daughter.
Hope you like it too.
At my wedding reception my dad surprises my new husband and I by signing a beautiful song. I am a sign language interpreter so this meant the world to me. He...

I have not Marcy.
But it sounds like those weddings were great fun.
I only recall being at one wedding when I was a child and the lady who was trying to catch the bouquet fell on top of me and she was not small

A lovely riposte! Alas, how I wish I could be there, on such a wedding...in India, weddings are usually solemn affairs, though there is some revelry after there, but such things are usually treated as an oddity. But I have heard of underwater weddings, weddings on hot air balloons, and even on a bungee jumping site!Nevertheless, all these were in Europe, or NZ.

Nope, all have been the same boring kind through a church. If I ever get married again, to my current boyfriend, I want to have it on Halloween with a Halloween theme. As our anniversary is Halloween.

You have narrated about unusual weddings. I have no occasion so far to attend any unusual wedding. However, our Indian weddings are great events in itself. Lots of relatives gather one or two days before marriageday, lots of events go on till the next day of wedding and every event looks pleasant and every one is decked up and dancing. If you happen to attend an Indian wedding, you should attend, you would enjoy, I am sure.

I've been to a gay wedding, it was a very nice wedding, it had a video game theme and it was at a hotel which isn't that different but everything surrounding it was different. My brother's wedding was very traditional but it was definitely memorable one of the groomsmen passed out. My sister's wedding was also traditional but she had a preacher that didn't stop talking and the groom's brother put on some light up glasses during this and everyone was trying not to laugh out loud. I've not been to anything super unusual but I've definitely been to some memorable weddings. Personally I think I'll get married at the courthouse when I finally do get married.

So where was God in all of this? I believe that marriage should be in Church and it is a serious commitment. Sorry to be so old fashioned

I was once a Catholic but could no longer agree with some of it's old fashioned ideas so I left the church. We can agree to disagree but I have my opinion and you have yours so no problem. Thanks for your sharing.

@Marcyaz Sorry, as a Catholic I disagree. Marriage should be in Church and Communion offered to the Catholics present. But in no way do I disagree that God isn't everywhere because he is. This is a personal opinion that people should be married before a consecrated altar and in no way am I disrespecting any other views.

Honestly I have never went to a non normal wedding. Though I had al kinds of ideas for mine...but ended up with the traditional church wedding. I would love to go to some like that tho because it makes it more personal really.

Heck... what have I been missing. All the weddings seem pretty boring now that I think about it. Lovely, but normal!

I haven't been to any strange weddings. But I bet they are a lot of fun. I like things to be different. I would have had a totally different wedding if it were up to me. But the wife at the time wanted it to be traditional. I understood that though.

I can't say that I have been to any weird weddings. I went to my Son's wedding which was beautiful and I went to my sisters wedding and there was me and my children there that was it. I guess that was kinda weird. maybe they didn't want to have a large wedding anyways.
