Thoughts on Windows10?

So I received an email saying I can upgrade to Windows 10 for free. Not too sure if I should choose to upgrade or not. I have heard from people that Windows 10 is amazing, and other people have said it has a lot of major bugs that makes it unusable. I am currently using Windows 7. Wondering who all here has upgraded to Windows 10 and what are your thoughts on it. What are some major features that are in Windows 10 that is not in the older versions, specifically Windows 7?

I'm using Windows 8.1 and I'm really undecided about the upgrade. I'm worried that it might cause compatibility problems with some of my older software and I'd hate to have to spend money on upgrading that.

Ya I know what you mean, it would stink if you got the free upgrade then had to spend money to upgrade your software to be compatible with the upgrade, then it technically isn't free anymore.

There are always mixed responses from the public as soon as a new operating system is introduced. The same scenario existed when Windows XP was released, with many people quoting that they intend to stick with Windows 98. Many of those people ended up using Windows XP and eventually stating that they would continue with XP and not change to Windows 7. Once again many of those are now making the same comments about Windows 10. The constant reluctance from users is due to the learning curve required when becoming familiar with a new operating system, although personally I have no issue jumping from one to the other. I was running Windows 10 for quite some time prior to the official release and am very happy with it. It was a real pain in the very early days when the first builds were released, but gradually things improved and issues were resolved. This is the sole reason that Microsoft offer early pre release builds to people in order to check for potential conflicts with various combinations of hardware and software.

You are absolutely correct in saying that people always say they will never upgrade to the next operating system and they will stick with the current operating system. Most people do end up upgrading eventually.

My son went to Windows 10 and he likes it. But he upgraded from 8.1. So he's already used to the overwhelming invasion of Microsoft into his personal data. I am using Win 7 and it's fine. I would have been happy with XP forever, but what can you do? Every upgrade takes a little more user control away and puts a little more Microsoft big brother in place.

Yes, Windows 8.1 users will certainly find Windows 10 more familiar than those who jump from Windows 7.

I have windows 10, and I likeit compared to windows 8.1. which I had lots of problem with. Windows 10 was a little iffy at first, but now it runs flawlessly, and I really like it. I do recommend it to anyone thinking about using it.
