You're kidding, right?

It's 3 AM here in Yuki-land, and all the sane people are snug in their beds. It's the perfect time for me to sneak online and peruse the assignment boards for the companies I contract with, catch up on myLot, and just generally enjoy not being interrupted by the kids. Well... until someone across the street decides that it's an appropriate time to break out the power tools. Where has common courtesy gone?

Someone across the street has to sleep sometime. Does the doorbell work when the house looks quiet?

I love the way you think! Across the street is actually commercial. I think the noise was coming from either the painting place or the guys who rent the space on the end and use it as a garage for their hobby vehicles. It might have been something over at the building they're renovating for the thrift store, though... Weirdly enough nobody around here seems to have doorbells. I kind of wish we did... I never know if the mail carrier is knocking on my door or the neighbor's.

@yukimori I used to rent an upstairs flat across from a guy that had a garage next to his house. He would get too many cars and then work on the street in front. So it made it feel like I was living above a garage. It had it's funny moments too because he had a wife and kids and a really bad temper.

@Bluedoll At least he worked on them... my mother's husband collects broken-down cars. I think the total the last time we were actually speaking was somewhere around 10-12 rotting away in the yard. I think she met him in 1993... some of those have been sitting around at least that long.

I don't understand things like that. I won't even run my washer or dryer late at night or early in the morning because I think it will make too much noise or vibration on the walls for the people who live downstairs. No one has ever complained, I just think before I start making noise. If only everyone else did that.

Good grief, don't people sleep anymore? They certainly wouldn't want to be awakedn by power tools or anything else for that matter. I don't get interrrupted while sleeping, unless my dogs want out, then I have to let them out. It is hard to go back to sleep afterwards too. I toss and turn, and just can't do it. I think thenext time that happens, I am going to grab my ipad or iPhone and just start posting, until I get sleepy again.

Ugh! We have neighbors with that kind of courtesy ! They seem to be out most of the day - and then they all come home like after 9pm. At 11pm they put on their music in the garage - which is right near our bedroom windows. And then midnight/1am their 3 year old is running around playing in their yard (seriously, I don't know why that girl is up THAT late - and she can rustle around pretty loud). I don't think these people know that people sleep at night next door!!

Everybody is not on myLot on Friday night. I am happy enough to not have had noisy neighbors since a long time. I remember to have had a terrible one on the ceiling over me who was liking to tinker with a hammer at 3 or 4 am when he was not playing music. I give you a link to "If I had a hammer" a French pearl of the 60's
I do not claim to own any part of this upload, for educational purposes only. One video of 200 songs in French with paroles en Français, la letra en Español ...

I go crazy when people do renovation work here in our apartment after 5 pm, let alone 3 am in the morning! That's so inconsiderate.

Whoa, seriously? I guess I have been living in this community for long enough, I can't imagine that. Here, the rules are no loud noises between 8 am to 10 pm and I have seen security (I live in a gated community) stop by homes who break this rule all the time, but usually the latest is 10:30.

Some people really have no consideration for others. We used to have some silly neighbors in our block earlier who played loud music late into the night. Finally we got them thrown out of the place.

How is it they can make noise during the night? Have you something very noisy you can use when you are sure those people sleep?
