So Much Temptation, So Little Time

When in Melbourne, Australia a few weeks ago I spent several hours with a friend I've known for 46 years. Toward the end of our time together we passed by the window of a tea shop that has been in Melbourne a long time. After spending time gazing at all the temptation in the window - shown in the picture here - we realised there was a queue for tables. We just didn't have the time to wait, as I had to catch my bus to the airport. It was fun looking though. What would you have chosen from this selection? I had a hard time deciding.

I'm a hesitant person. I usually take too long to decide anything. Even if I want to have a chocolate or a strawberry ice cream ahaha

I'm the opposite. I often make a quick decision, then hope there may be another time for something else.

@valmnz It is so difficult for me to decide. And I hate when I choose too quickly and then regret it loool

I usually go with anything cheesecake. Even the worst cheesecake is delicious, you can't go wrong.

With the reputation this place has I doubt you'd go wrong with any of them.

Ha, ha! Have you ever been there? I've been in the past. I think it's called Hope Tearooms or something, in The Block Arcade.

@glenniah I've now looked it up and it seems it's called Hopetoun, not Hope.

This might sound bad, but, I would take a week vacation, to just go to that tea shop and even if I had to go there for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea each day, I would try one of everything. I do not know what size I would be after that, but, I know I would be happy.

How infuriating. I'd have missed my plane! Something topped with with fresh fruit would have been nice. Well, anything at all from that selection you've shown us. And then some more.

I think I decided it would have been the lemon tart one, the yellow one in the centre. Though I'd have settled for anything.

@valmnz I remember going to a Mall in Melbourne where there was this stall offering a buffet . You could eat as much as you wanted but one could not share or take away even what was left in the plate. That would have been a good offer for those with a big appetite.

@allknowing even at the Melbourne hotel I stayed at you couldn't take food away that you hadn't eaten. There are strict regulations now, as people have apparently tampered with the food then sued the restaurant. There was a court case on while I was there.

They're in the most famous of the old buildings in the CBD, called The Block. It's a big really old shopping aracade right in the centre of town.

Oh, that's sad. Life is too short for regrets. I know what you mean though. There are some foods that disagree with me now. Ice cream is one. I always regret when I give in to the temptation of ice cream.

Whenever the sweet trolley comes around in a restaurant my husband always embarrasses me by saying ''I'll have a little bit of everything''. That's what I feel like saying in answer to your question.

I seem to remember my friend and I saying that, since we were merely looking through the window. And yes, my husband says that too!

I hate passing places like that because I'd love to sample everything... but my waist line and my wallet won't allow it.

Looking at the size of the pieces it would have been quite a mission to eat even one piece.

I always have to do a quick "calorie math" before my instinct might take over. It is getting difficult to take the flat tires off the tummy.
