Reality Shows Aren't real

I am not a fan of reality shows because I believe that those I had seen on televisions were already scripted. However, these are really popular now a days because reality shows are everywhere. There is no way that people act the way they should in front of a camera. Every body seems to want to act like a real actors and actresses. I cannot even understand why there are people who allowed their personal issues to be brought on national television. But that is their choice and there is nothing I can do about it. What is your take on reality shows?

I know that they are not real. A group of student in Italy have "infiltrated" a TV studio and they have discovered that the reality shows are all fake.

Exactly. Even here in our country its too obvious that the shows are just purely scripted.

Depends on what type of reality shows you're talking about. Restoration shows, I love those. Especially the house flippers. Reality dating? Hate them. Nothing but a sleaze fest. They do serve one good purpose though. If we ever see any of those people in real life, we know to stay away from them.

Sleaze fest. Well-put. Yes, I'd stay away from that kind of person too.

You have a point. I have also seen restoration reality shows and I kinda like them. I hate the dating shows as well. Its a kind of exploitation for me

Well, here's the deal. I know the reality shows are scripted to the extent where "diary" conversations are prompted by questions from the producers. But you are seeing the real people. I watched a television drama this evening, popular series, and I thought "what bad acting". That is why reality shows are so popular. You are seeing real reactions to real situations, scripted or not, while actors are basically saying lines they memorized. A lot do it well, some do it poorly.

You are giving a different light to this and I understand your point. May be some people are also looking for some raw kind of acting these days

Well as long as they are entertaining I don't think people would mind at all. Even if some are preset and does not actually happen in real time, I still would like to believe most are as real as they could be. You just need to find the most real that you're interested in out of all the reality shows out there.

the very artificial set up makes them fake and contrived and the contestants just crave fame at any cost while real people don't care

Right. There are people who would do anything just to get noticed and famous

The "acting"on reality shows is really bad. They remind me of soap operas, only worse. I do not watch them.

True. They are really worse than anyone of us can think of

Reality shows have to be the most atrocious form of entertainment ever conceived, yet as you say they are extremely popular.

they are an artificial construct and usually also a game show so people involved want to win. The makers find real life dull so they spice things up for the ratings by creating conflict - it's all horribly false

Reality shows are a savings to me. Due to them I do not bother hooking up to cable. No TV for us here. No thank you.
