I just saw a post that had 29 responses but just 2 comments

How can anyone do that? Those who have responded have taken the trouble to go to that post and the OP has skipped so many responses and has just commented on two. What is your view on this? I comment on every response I receive. If I do not find anything to comment I acknowledge that response by liking it.

Sometimes it's easy to miss some responses when you're offline for a while. Like you, if I have nothing to sy I acknowledge the response with a Like. Every now and then I go back to earlier discussions to see what I've missed, there are always some. 2 out of 28 would probably put me off that person!

@allknowing and I get there in a very round about haphazard way - but I do try to get there

@allknowing yes, I realise that and I do . But there are times it is impossible to keep up wth all the responses. We all do our best, but I'm not going to beat myself up over it.

I do my best to return comments on everyone who leaves a comment on my post. I think its only fair. Sometimes it takes me a while to get it done but it does get done. :)

That is the way to go but just because it is not a violation to ignore, some do it with gay abandon

We are in agreement that this is wrong and whoever submitted the post should have the courtesy to reply to each responder, but it may not be simply lack of interest. Many years ago when I first became a member I often replied to just a few responses on each post, purely on the grounds that many of them consisted of the same or similar opinion. It seemed superfluous to me to make several similar comments to these responses, although I intended no disrespect by this. I soon realised that it was more prudent to add a personal comment for each response. It could also be circumstantial. If the post is not very old then the creator may simply have not got around to it yet. ////they could even be on holiday, or maybe having internet issues and struggling to keep up.

@allknowing I fully agree and was not attempting to justify the behaviour, but simply offering a few possible reasons other than the obvious.

You can always club together and give a common comment. It is far better than not saying anything in my opinion. There are definitely situations where one overlooks unintentionally but what I saw was that the comments were given by jumping over several responses. How long would it take for someone to say something nice or even clubbing them all together and then give a common comment. It is like all sitting in a group where everyone has a say and the convenor just gives importance to just a couple or two.

@allknowing How do you club them together? If a response has been addressed, I don't want to write the same comment to several people but I do "like" the comment.

How can they do it? That's easy. They don't It sometimes isn't necessary or possible to reply to each response (intelligently, at least) and different people have different styles. If I come across a discussion with several responses and few replies, I simply shake my head and wonder whether the person is tired, has run out of time, has nothing much to say to some of the responses or is, perhaps, just lazy. Whatever their reason, what I think is purely a guess and I am not inside that person's mind, so I can't be judgemental about it and let it ride. It's their loss, after all, not mine!

We have to be practical. If every response that you give to the OP's post is ignored then there is a message there. Do not go there again. Full Stop.

Perhaps the OP does not know that it is acceptable to comment on all the responses. I think many users are new to Mylot, and it takes time for them to get used to it. This new Mylot is entirely different from the old Mylot.

Sometimes they are the kind of response that doesn't really need a comment, you just end up repeating yourself over and over. I think in those cases a like is enough.

I think most people are here, for the earnings alone, thus, don't take the time to follow the discussion. Although, the earnings increase, when you actually 'discuss' on your own discussion. But yes, sometimes I feel ignored, when I take the time to respond to someone, specially on a personal discussion and there are no comments back

To me, it is only common courtesy to comment back on any responses you receive. I always comment back to all the responses i receive. I may not get to them immediately, but I do them when I see them in my notifications. I wouldn't start a discsussion unless I took the time to comment back to all responses. Only two comments and all those responses, means that person is here for the wrong reason, and they arent using the teamwork that it takes for all of us make anything at all. I love the interaction, so you will always see me comment back to the responses, as I know that once they interact with me, I will interact with them.

@allknowing I fee the same way. i am really glad tointeract with them since theytoo, the time to respond, I am certainly going to take the time to comment back, and keep the interaction going.

Is it possible that some people have a blogging style that allows for responses but don't like to comment? They do their writing in the post. That is good for hot topics perhaps because a writer could avoid any conflicts that might occur that way. I adapt your style of posting as you can tell below but might be considered self-centered because I promote my own posts? - just wanted to show you I have the same idea as you.
On this post you will find someone who will return to it. On this post you will have your comments read and responded to. On this post you...

I actually find it to be rude. I tend to stay away from discussions where the poster only wants people to respond to them, but give no acknowledgement to them.
@allknowing (130064)
• India

It is not just being rude but the one who responds is deprived of interaction. This is a discussion site and in fact the OP stands to lose if they do not encourage interaction.

Like you I try to reply to every comment I get, or at least like them, so that the responder knows I've read what they have to say. It would seem rude not to. If I do miss any, it's accidental not intentional.

Sometimes I will just give a like to let you know I read your response, I don't think you have to answer every response. Somethings you just can't answer, or respond to, I think a like is enough. I surely don't expect anyone to answer every comment made.

I think that this is not the spirit of this site. Of course it is possible that the user had to do other things offline and that will come back later to re-comment.
