Rugby World Cup 2015: South Africa vs USA

Tonight the USA and South Africa meet at the Rugby World Cup in England! Yes, the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, will play against the Rainbow Nation! Many will say that it is an easy game for South Africa, but, after the shock of Japan beating South Africa, it is clear to see there are no easy games in this World Cup, so, I, as a South African, am very nervous today. I know the USA will come out full force to try and cause another great upset. I hope that South Africa will realise this, take nothing for granted and play with all their might. Will you wish the South African team good luck? I will edit in the results and score after the game tonight. Nervous times for a South African "Springbok" supporter! Nervous times for the team from the USA the "Eagles" too, I guess. I must say that in the first half of the game, the USA stopped South Africa from getting two tries that should have been easy for South Africa to get, and they defended with all their might. Then South Africa came back in the second half, after what I think was a good talking to from the South African coach. And after that shocking loss where Japan blind sided South Africa, I am relieved to say South Africa win the game tonight 64-0! The USA take on Japan next. Good luck to the USA.

So many times the big team lose the easy games, this is surely because they are too relaxed. I wish you good luck for your team.

That is true @LadyDuck , they need to be more focussed now than ever, the Springboks. Thank you! :-)

Perhaps we will not give them such an "easy" game.

@Rollo1 , exactly, that is my worry, there is no such thing as an easy game in this World Cup so far. I just heard the anthems, the USA are ready for battle and then some. They know Japan beat us, they will go all out to do the same.

Thank you Janet! I guess it is because NFL is more popular in the USA. But the USA are getting stronger in Rugby and 7's Rugby, I wish the channels there would broadcast it for them.

@jaboUK , yes, it must be off putting to have to pay extra to see your national team play, it should be broadcast across the US by a channel that everyone has access to. Oh boy, they stole the ball from us near the end of the first half there, we were lucky to stop the momentum. Here goes the second half.

I doubt we will be able to watch, as these games tend to be pay per view here, but I am afraid we are split in this household. The Man grew up in South Africa, and I am an American, so who do we root for?

@Rollo1 , that is a problem, my Mom and I do not support the same provincial team, but, we have found a way to handle it, dishes, if my team wins she washes dishes, if her team wins I wash dishes, ha ha. I think you can support the USA and he can support South Africa. Each team is there doing their best. Now it is wait and see time.

@bluesa I think the biggest concern about the game about to take place might not be winning, but injuries resulting from the physical nature of the game. The end of the first round is close. That's when it will start getting exciting again.

I am glad you found it @valmnz :-). Yes, we finally won big, but, we made a lot of mistakes, especially in the first half. I think Tonga is NZ's next game, I also think the All Blacks will win well, enjoy the game, Val.

@valmnz , yes, injuries are a big worry, it is a brutal game and yet everyone needs to be fighting fit to succeed. At least the teams will be given some time to heal before the next big round.

Just watched the Wales/Australia game, so it seems we will be playing Wales. I hope that is a good choice left to us -actually we had no choice - the game was tri-less and quite scrappy at times, poor Wales did try their best.

Sounds as if the game was quite competitive in the first half and then it seems that USA just lost steam. Congrats to your "Springbok".

Yes, the USA took us on in the first half, we made a lot of mistakes too. The USA is getting better at Rugby, they just need more games and competition. Thank you. :-)

I had to listen to the game on the radio as we were travelling to Aardklop in Potch yesterday. I loved that Habana got to a few tri's but it wasnt nice to watch USA be so defeated.

@bluesa yes - the rugby is getting very exciting - but a lot of heartache lies in the quarterfinals -

I hope you had a great time at Aardklop! Yes, Habana is close to breaking Lomu's record now. There were about four times I thought the USA would score, the score does not really show how the USA stopped us from getting a few more tries in the first half. Now we just have to wait and see if it is Australia or Wales.

It really is, it is fast paced and action packed. But, I have heard it is not really broadcast in the US, which is a pity, because I think it could be a sport a lot of Americans would support.

@bluesa We won. Next play is tomorrow, too, but they are the underdogs. Good luck to us! It was thrilling so far, and I hope it continues.
