Would you like to be promoted?

If you will be given a chance to be promoted to a higher position, with higher salary, are you going to grab the chance? What if your work will be more stressful and more difficult after your promotion? Are you going to pursue this? I asked myself many times if I want to be promoted but in exchange, I will definitely have a hard time in my work. Moreover, I will have less time for my family and more time for work. As of now, I do not want to be promoted yet as I feel that I am not yet ready. Probably once I am ready enough to face a new world, accept new task, I will surely pursue any available positions for promotions.

If the promotion comes with new learnings, why not. ;)

It is good to hear that there are people who are open for learning. Some want promotion for the sake of bragging their position. It is admirable if people will grab promotions for improvement and learning.

It would depend on several things. How many hours would I have to work, what my responsibilities I would have and how much I would make. Sometimes promotions are not worth their hassle.

Exactly and I agree with you. There are cases wherein promotions are not really worth it. You are just there for the title sake but the money, your time and effort is not worth it.

if I really like the job/industry I am in I will want to be promoted. I have been promoted once but they did not increase the pay so I quit after a few months. I would have stayed longer if they increased our salary but alas it seemed they would not do it even after we all discussed it with our managers. Since then I never took on a higher post even if it entails more responsibilities and more pay I just choose to stay where I am for the meantime. I have other plans so I won't be staying long in the industry I am in anyway.

I know that being promoted in my job would mean more work and a bit more stress. But yes, I would take that promotion and I really hope to get it some day. I haven't been at the job very long, but in a year or so I do hope to have gotten a promotion.

I think it depends on how much I enjoy my job. If it's a job I like doing, I don't mind working harder and doing more because I'll be enjoying it. If it's something I don't like doing, then I'd probably turn down the promotion.

I agree with you. If you love what you are doing, no matter how difficult it is, you can still enjoy it specially if the offer is right.
