Bad words according to a computer

I was answering a post about wines a while ago. I submitted my answer and the server? computer? program? would not let me post it. I was writing bad words. Shame! I said. What is the bad word this time? I don´t even know so many bad words in English. I looked and looked and there it was: the name of a tipe of wine holded a secuence of letters that were bawdy. There is this awesome white wine (I´ll cut the word so as to fool the program). I suggest you try it. It is Cha rdonnay. In stupid computer programs, words and even word pieces are misunderstood because they are checked out of context.

Many of us have encountered the same problem, which can be quite puzzling until we notice the wording of the error message. This odd filtering system actually renders many place names unacceptable, which would be a real inconvenience for anyone living in such a place. I wonder if such place names are deemed acceptable when registering one's address on the site.

It seems that in this case (and maybe in others) the filter "believes" that all words are in English and that all are common nouns.

@marguicha It simply looks for certain combinations of letters and ignores the surrounding text or any letters attached to the imaginary word.

@Asylum I see you wrote a post similar to this one. Maybe we should start a campaign in favour of looking at words in a context

It took me a while to figure out the bad word, lol. MyLot does have a filter that won't let you post "bad words" but sometimes it does pick out words in the middle of other words and misidentifies them as bad.

Nope it isn´t! I discover what it didn´t like and cut the one word in 2.
