Hello from Spain. The first couple of days of our holiday here have been wonderful - perfect weather, great food and entertainment. For those of you who read my last post, I fortunately was able to buy a replacement for the part missing from my charger, so here I am to bother you again. I wonder why there can't be one charger to fit all our devices, It's very inconvenient to have to pack different ones for phone, camera and laptop. Surely it would be possible to make them with interchangeable heads? Anyway, I've replied to all of you who responded to my post about it, and that took me quite a while. However, I haven't been able to get round to answering all the comments on the one before that (Something Completely Different), and I hope that you will forgive me if I just like each of them. My time is limited (I am on my hols!) and if I were to reply to each I wouldn't have time to get around to any of your posts. Perhaps I may get around to it at a later date. I'm happy to be able to 'touch base' with you all after it seemed that I might not be able to do so.

You are on vacation, so act like it and don't worry what we think! We know when you get back you will catch up with all of us. Rest, laugh, enjoy the sights, the aromas, the warmth and the joys of your daily life. Say hi to old friends of ours as you see them and I thought you should know nameless is here now and I'm loving that she is here.

@PainsOnSlate Thanks Marilyn - yup, I'm in vacation mode, but it's nearly midnight here so I wouldn't be doing anything else at this time, so I might as well be mylotting for an hour or two. I'll say hi to Maggs for you, of course. Yes, I've already caught up with Nameless when I saw her comment on @DaddyEvil 's post. I'm so glad she's here too.

Hi @crazyhorseladycx Lovely to get a comment from you. Yes i suppose they do want to sell you more stuff, and the chargers aren't cheap. Fortunately the bit I wanted wasn't too expensive. Yes I'm on my hols, but there are quiet moments like now in the afternoon. We've just come back from the beach, hubby is taking a nap, so I thought I'd do a bit of mylotting.

@joboUK @crazyhorseladycx Isn't it funny how we all treat our vacations (holidays) differently? When I took my last two weeks of vacation this year, I signed up for myLot and started talking my tush off! Janet gets away to the beach and I already know Crazy spends her time enjoying her sanctuary! It is all the same, isn't it? Doing something we like to relax!

There is a guy who made this new invention for charging all your devices as it has interchangeable ports, etc. I think it's mostly for phones, and I don;t think it works for laptops, but someday there might be one.

@Rollo1 So if they already do it for phones, perhaps laptops and cameras will soon follow suit.

I think there is a way to use a usb port to recharge but I'm not entirely sure, let's ask @daddyevil if he knows a way to recharge all devices universally.

Most phones - even iPhones - now have a USB charging cable. A few cameras do also (though they usually have a different mini-USB from phones) but most with a rechargeable Lithium battery do need a mains charger into which you insert the battery. That means that you SHOULD only need a mains cable for your laptop and then the appropriate USB cable for your phone and the battery charger for your camera. Of course, when abroad, you also need the appropriate converter plug. All these things are, I know, a pain but at least you don't need to worry about the mains voltage in Europe. I think it's almost universally 230v 50Hz.

True @jaboUK but he's much more techy than I am. Should we ask @phredwreck or @owlwings? I'm not sure what their expertise is as they've never claimed anything that I'm aware of.

I've often wondered why they don't have a one size fits all charger. It really would make life easier. Enjoy your holiday, and don't worry about us. Have fun, that's what holidays are for. There will be plenty of time to sit at a computer when you get home.

At least most phones have a standard plug on them now. It would be nice if they could get the other devices on-board. This reminds me of a question I always have when I go to the gas station; why don't all cars have the gas tank on the same side?

@norcal Regarding the car thing - why don't they all have the wipers and indicators all on the same side for every model too? My son's car is the opposite way round to mine, and if we drive each other's we are continually putting the wipers on when we want to indicate.

@jaboUK I have always wondered the same thing about plugs. Maybe it's just another scam for people to spend money because almost everyone will be wanting a phone, laptop and / or camera while away from home. Which leads to them buying the correct plugs / cords for them.

@allknowing I wouldn't watch a bullfight if you paid me. I did that once more than 50 years ago and it sickened me, so I won't be repeating that experience. I come on the computer when we're in bed at night as then it's not interfering with anything else. And I may have an odd half hour when we're relaxing in the afternoons with a cup of tea.

@jaboUK O, yeah, they do make a good living. . But when they got married in a civil ceremony, they spent 35 thousand dollars in a high-class hotel in Vancouver. . I sighed and told my daughter (joking) that I should have been the one who officiated the wedding at home and celebrated in an all-you-can eat restaurant . . . then they would have just spent a maximum of 3 thousand dollars . . and they could have used the 30 thousand as down payment to a second house to make money for them by renting it.
