It seems today is the newbie's day.

I have been reading posts centring round newbies Why not? They need all the support. Let me touch on the system where we are followed. Yes. I am followed like the Pied Piper but no sooner they follow me they vanish. I never see them again. Let me explain. Why do we follow users here. We follow them so that we can read their posts. When we are online and look for posts in 'explore' and 'people' you will not find some of your follower's posts all the time. They would be buried somewhere deep down because of the time zone factor. The tendency is to believe in WYSIWYG. But there is a solution. When your follower comes to your post, click on their user ID. That will take you to their profile and there on the left side you will find a tab 'discussions' and that is where you will find their posts. You can also go to your 'following' list and click there as well. There is no point in your following anyone if you have no intention to interact with them. Wait a minute. This rule applies to veterans as well. Right? How many of you just respond, and respond and respond but those whose posts you respond to are nowhere on the scene!!!! Any more questions?

I have a 'core' of people that I follow and I will always try to read their posts.

@jaboUK But you must be going to posts of those users who regularly visit yours.

@allknowing Yes I do, of course, but if they regularly visit me I am usually following them too.

I do respond to others discussions, but not sure if they vanish or not, as I have't been checkintg their profiles. i know I probahly should, as like you, I follow them becasue I am hoping they start discussions, that I can respond to, thus interact with them, and thus earn more. It is a shame when they join, and start discussions, but vanish afterwards. I suppose they realized they aren't going to get rich in here, so they decide to just leave and not come back, as they feel it isn't worth their time to be here. I don't know why they bother then, in the first place. In fact, if you want to know the truth, they are wasting everyone elses time, not their own.

@allknowing I think you are right about that. I don't know why they even bother starting discussions in the first place, if they arent going to do what they should do. I think that maybe they are there for the wrong reasons, and that is so sad too.

@rosekiss This is the best site around these days. With a bit of patience they will learn the ropes and will get to like it.

I have found some who do not interact at all, even after I try again and again. If that happens, I just don't try and interact with them anymore. Overall, the majority of people here do interact and it's a lot of fun when that happens.

I don't worry much about how many people follow me or how many I follow. It's easier just to interact with the people who respond to my discussions and the ones I find through the Explore page. That way I can interact with different people and not just the ones I follow.

@allknowing I've found that it works for me. I check the most recent discussions, the ones with no response and the interesting ones - that gives me access to a lot of discussions and many people.

When I first joined which was only a little while ago I kept getting notifications that so and so followed you. It always amazes me that if you look at their page There is a 99% chance they have not even posted a discussion yet, they, to me are wasting my time and theirs.

if someone follows you but you don't follow them back, would you see them in 'People'?

@myLotBugs Thanks. This clarification was needed as when one follows and we do not follow them then we do not get to see them. I did not know this.

@allknowing @hereandthere Nope, you will only see those you follow under "People"

They do not interact maybe because they have nothing to add on the responds we are posting? What do you think?

Occasionally it can happen that one may not have anything to say on a response but some discussions only have responses and no comments.

I do what I feel I am able on any given day. I definitely miss posts from those I follow, but I don't expect my followers to catch all mine either. I'm having to reduce the time I spend here, which means limiting the posts I am able to interact with.

I am particularly talking of those whose posts we respond to but they are never seen around either to comment to our responses or even respond to our posts.

The follow and run system is mostly used by new members because they believe that they can accrue a vast following that way and boost their discussions.

@allknowing Even more frustrating is the fact that we do not know who is likely to behave this way. Naturally there are sensible members among the new ones as well.

Oh yes you are so right.I have a big following but I hardly ever see any of them. I even try to find them and write comments on some of their stuff. Not many of them have written either. \so this makes it hard to have a following and one that is hard to find.
@allknowing (130064)

And then there are some who think only their posts should be responded to but they never bother to look in your direction. When someone responds it is a spontaneous reaction to search for posts who have responded but that is never done here. I do it.

@allknowing Yes you are so right on this one and I have to agree. I have tons of people who follow me and lately comment on something. I try my hardest to get to their post as much as I can. I am sort of limited on time. But I don't forget and when I see a post they did I answer this one if I missed a few I am so sorry.
