Do you let your friends and relatives know about your account in Mylot?

I personally keep life separate from my real world friends and relatives. I do not have Facebook or other social networking account, and I do not let them know about my money making activity online. Mylot is my private world, and I do not intend to share. As it is, I spend time with my real life friends, and relatives, and keep the association offline. If I want to share about some incidents or unhappiness that happen offline, I will not use real names. This is to prevent them from knowing that I write about them.

I really don't tell anyone where I write or what sites I have joined. I think it is my personal business and don't really share it with them.

Yes, I have the same thought. There must be a side of us that we can keep to ourselves, and not share with the rest of the people whom we know. I think having a profile online will allow us some freedom of speech, and thinking.

@Hatley You are quite an intelligent lady, dear friend. Some people let life go by, others try to do the most with what they have.

I find it more compòlicated not to say anything abot myLot rather than mention it. I have received cards and gifts from online friends and it is so much easier to explain that I met them online than hide the gifts and keep it secret. MyLot IS a part of my real world and find no difference between 'real' and 'virtual' nowadays at all.

Mylot is real to us who are users. It is not real to those who are not here. My friends are not here in Mylot, and I do not want to explain to them as they are not interested about reading and writing. They just want to play games online, and they want to upload their lunches and dinners.

I understand where you're coming from. I decided to let my family and friends know what I write here and on other writing sites. I'm reluctant to write anything that they would object to anyway. The result has been better than expected. Not only do many of them read my stuff but several family members started taking up writing online making a little money like I do. Nice to have them adding to my discussions here.

I have tried before with some friends, and most of them gave up reading my articles. That was back when i was writing in Helium. Now they do not care about my online activities, and I do not care about their online activities. They just want to watch movies, and play games.

@scheng1 I actually have a lot of friends and relatives with writing aspirations of their own. They also find some of my humour entertaining.

There's nothing secret about my online life but no one I know cares so I don't bother them with it.

That's the thing. i do not want to keep a secret of my real life, and I know that I cannot say all the ugly things about my friends without hurting them. Sometimes we say things that we do mean, and it hurts like hell to those who listen.

Yes I do agree in what you wrote, private data should be hidden as possible as much as possible. The web is a really good tool but sometimes can also be negative. But at the same time I think that social media as Facebook, Instagram are useful to keep in contact with old friends, relatives who live far etc..

I think Facebook is useful only for those who update important events in life. There are people who upload every single meal, including every single snack, to their Facebook account. I think it shows that a person has no depth.

@scheng1 that's very true as well. To many people (especially from Asia ahah) tend to capture every single thing throughout the days. Sorry, can you explain briefly to me how to make money with this web site? I'm new

Hi @scheng1 , glad to see you are here too! I don't mind telling, but since most of my friends are not interested or do not trust making money online, I just don't care sharing. I agree that mylot is a place where we can write freely. I like to share something here that I might not share in Facebook, not because I talk something about my friends, it's because the things I tell might not interest them at all, or they do not agree at all, but I get more positive feedback from mylot, such as homeschooling, playing in the rain or handwork.

@scheng1 I think so. Moreover, I think we can really learn from different countries and cultures, which is really good.

Yes, my friends are not interested in reading or writing too. They are more interested in sharing pictures of their meals, as if everyone wants to know what they eat. I think we are doing so much better than them. At least we are using our time wisely, and have something to show for the future.

In the real world, no one is interested to know about our (read my) online activities, therefore, I do not share anything with anyone.

Yes, they are only interested in what you buy and how much you have made. I think they are not really interested in us, but they hope to show up that they are better in making money.

I will tell anyone that wants to know, as it if helps them to earn online, then why not? I have tired coaxing my family and friends here, but they just aren't interested, and I don't ask them again. I think the more that know about mylot, the better, as if they join, and we interact with them, then it is more money all around, and I am certainly up for that.

Yes, that is my experience too. Back when I was making a few hundred dollars from Helium, and I talked to my friends about it, they were just keen enough to submit one article. In the end, I keep my online life private, and do not share with them again. They do not want to know, so I can write more freely without worrying about their opinions.

It doesn't bother me if I tell them or not. Honestly, the subject hasn't come up because I don't think about it when I'm offline. But, if the subject came up about making money from social sites like myLot, I would tell them.

I think my friends are making much more money than me, and that is why they do not care about making a few dollars more. They are spending much more money than me too. I think Mylot is really a good thing. It makes us spend more time here, and earn, instead of spend.

It is different with me, I tell to some of my relative that I try to make money online. But I don't tell them what site I join to. Because most of them do not know about how to make money online.

I can tell them about it if they want to learn. They simply are not interested. They are making more money than me, and I am sure they are spending even more money.

Same with me. This is freedom for me because I can't say what I want to say to people who are close to me. So this where I let it all out.

I think all of us learn to keep something to ourselves. Sometimes I know that my friends want to tell me off, but they are too polite to do so, and they still value our friendship. They probably say it in their dreams! I say it online but they do not know that I am talking about them.

Getting paid is a certainty. I have been making money online since 2009. Granted that there are a few sites that do not pay, and shut down before they start to pay, the amount I have earned is still much better than many others who are not making much.
