and living in the moment. After this shooting I see that someone was wondering about him before the shooting and nothing was done. FBI doesn't want to label this as a terrorist act yet. The man had all kinds of problems early on and nothing was done. I think that the business they shot people in should have had their doors locked. I really believe that everyone, all businesses and citizens need to be careful and have security things in place. Everywhere. We really need to take all of this new found violence seriously or it could happen to us. If we work we need to be sure that our facility is locked down during working hours. Your boss is responsible for your life while you are at work. When I was working they had security at the door and if you didn't have a working ID card you didn't get in and your manager was called to the door. This sort of security should be in place in all businesses today. These people could be anywhere. This is serious business. Please take heed. What are your thoughts on this issue.

It's impossible to protect everyone. If the perps had walked into any Target store, or strolled down Michigan Avenue in Chicago, they could have taken out as many people as they killed. One of the enemies is political correctness. Someone saw them receiving packages, and working late in a garage, and was afraid to report their weird activity because they didn't want to be seen as Islamophobic? Very sad. Americans should feel comfortable reporting suspicious activity regardless of the race or nationality of the suspicious person or persons.

More people should report what to them is suspicious activity.

I am always sceptical when someone commits a serious crime and suddenly school colleagues and work colleagues claim that they always found that person rather strange. To me this is simply fear of being associated with such a person, irrespective of what type of person he seemed to be before. I have to agree the idea of vigilance, but it is easy to become more relaxed before long.

@celticeagle Yes, but sadly the novelty soon wears off. After the first incidents British airports had seriously strict security, but it has eased quite a bit since.

@Asylum ...I think all fascets of our lifestyles should work together. It's sad when places like airports and such don't take things seriously. I'm glad I don't really even leave the house that much.

Though I always like to let my children believe in the beauty of the world, I have to enforce the security as well as there are so many criminal cases happen around. I try to be relaxed and also be alert at the same time. It sounds contradictory, but I don't want to feel nervous and scary all the time, but I need to be careful at the same time too.

I think children should be made a ware that there are evil doers in the world. There is a lot of beauty they can enjoy but they should know there are bad guys out there too and how to protect themselves. I have always done that with my kids.

I worked in retail with the public coming and going all day everyday. What was even more complicated is that the restrooms were in the back. Such procedures as you suggest could never be put into place.

@celticeagle There are always things to do to minimize exposure and risk, but if the store were ever subject to an attack like the one in San Bernadino, we'd have been toast.

I fear the day that the international terrorists ISIS enter my country.Although news are circulating the authorities found a flag of this group in a remote island of my country, it is vehemently denied that the group already invaded the island.

@ridingbet ....The FBI states the other day that they feel it was terrorism. They found texts from the woman stating that she did for the ISIS regime.

@celticeagle and that is one of the priorities of our military authorities now. It is frightening to learn that the killings and hostage-taking up there in the south may be because of the terrorists.

I think that people should not be afraid to call the authorities if they see or think something is not right with one of their peers. I wish we could be more prepared than we are but a lot of people just go along doing nothing. If I heard or saw something that to me wasn't right I would report it and if it wasn't anything oh well so b it.

I agree that wehave to takesome security measures at home and at work. But I think that if we overdo it, we will become paranoic and we will not be more secure for that matter.

@celticeagle I do feel people should feel safe at work but when you have peers come in and just start shooting you ask yourself was there any indication?

I don't think violence in the USA is 'new found'. People have been 'going postal' and shooting up their colleagues for decades.

While we don't want to become paranoid so that we overreact, it is certainly wise on our part to be alert, report something that looks suspicious to the proper authority and have some security measures set up. I think it behooves business to set up a training session on what to do in case of a violent attack to minimize loss of lives and maybe even save everyone..

I think it is smart to think about how to be safe in each place we frequent. Where can I hide? What can I grad to protect myself? Etc. We all need to be prepared especially if we live in a big city.

Hi! @celticeagle I am wondering if you are the same person I knew at BB! Have you changed your profile picture on myLot? Would love to see you [ your profile] again. Or perhaps I'm mistaken. Not sure. You are absolutely right on this current issue and the havoc it is causing in our communities. We all need to be alert and report any unusual happening.
