Pansexual?

Okay, so I was watching Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper on New Years Eve Live on CNN. And Kathy, always the shocker, mentioned that Miley Cyrus is a 'pan'sexual. My ears perked up and I listened. Pansexual? What is that? Well, it is sexual attraction, emotional attraction and romantic love for a person of any sex, identity or gender. It is also called omnisexual. The pan part of the word comes from the Greek "every" or "all". This is considered a subset of bisexuality or even a sexual orientation of its own. I was brought up by my Baptist grandmother who would be turning over in her grave right now had she heard this one. I'm sort of glad she didn't make it to the 21st century. She used to go into a diatribe on decency whenever there was a bra commercial on TV. I am sure she would have had a coronary if she saw a transgender or gay situation. May she rest in peace. I'm am not against any sexual persuasion. I just think that Miley is just too too. And, I had never heard of this new sexual identity.

So they make up a nice word for cheap and slutty but whatever the adjective, that girl is horribly out of control.

@Raelove Since I have no idea who she is, that means nothing to me.

@Raelove Sounds as if I've got lucky not knowing who she is. I wish I could say the same for Miley.

I like the 'too too' at the end of your post. Too much is always too much. I agree.

When I have seen your title I imagine that you meant omnisexual, now that I see that you are talking about Miley Cyrus (I think you misspelled the name), I am not surprised.

'Omni-' and 'pan-' are Latin and Greek equivalents (respectively), so 'omnisexual' and 'pansexual' ought to be interchangeable. It seems, however, (from 'Urban Dictionary', which, however, is compiled by individuals and so cannot be considered a particularly trustworthy source) that there is a slight distinction made in common usage.

Seeing her parading around in her bra - that lasted less than 20 seconds and I changed the channel.

I have never heard of pansexual either, but, between Miley, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Britney, we always had to or have to hear a new reason for their behaviour.

The four of them are very out there aren't they? I think they either want to out do or get the most attention and popularity.

@bluesa ...I think that is very true. And probably some oneupmanship going on too.

@celticeagle , yes they are, and I also think so, and it is actually quite sad, they don't care what they do as long as they are in the news.

I have just realised that I really don't care what that idiotic girl does to herself but I do care that young girls who admire her may think her promiscuity is something to aspire to. If this girl lives long enough to grow up, I suspect she will look back on her behaviour with embarrassment.

I have heard the term but it really seems like a hypothetical reference than a realistic scenario.

I have not heard about that yet, and I didn't know what omnisexual is. Thank you for telling me this, at least I know what these mean the next time I read them.

When I was growing up it was 'normal', 'queer' and 'pansy'. There was no word (that I knew of) to describe lesbians.

Though I've never heard that word I could have worked out what it meant. However I have no interest in what that girl does - in fact I've only heard of her in reference to another word that was supposedly invented for her.

I just learned today that the verb 'to twerk' (originally spelt 'twirk') was invented in the 19th Century, possibly as a portmanteau word meaning something between 'twist' and 'jerk'. It was also used in the 1920's to describe the Charleston.

Never heard of it either and I could care less about what Miley is up too, she will grow old and have to deal with life sometime without the media making her a big item. Boring!!!

I never heard of this identification until now. However, it fits that mixed up tramp to a t! Btw, I must be like your poor grandmother. Nothing is sacred or decent anymore. You can call me a prude. As for Kathy Griffin, ugh and Ick! Her voice alone irritates the heck out of me.
