Free Labor!

United States
January 1, 2016 9:34pm CST
No, I am not offering to come shovel snow, or wash cars, or do the laundry. We've had some boxes pile up over the past two months. I've been meaning to take care of it but have been lazy about doing it. I asked my nephew tonight if he would help me if I pay him by giving him a collectible figure he was eyeing. He said that he would do it for free, that he really didn't want the figure. Oh well, I'll keep the figure then. He helped me, and with the both of us it took maybe ten minutes. Now he's playing a video game on my console as payment. I say it's "money" well spent!

@amnabas My nephew always has a card up his sleeve though. This time it worked in my favor.

@ScribbledAdNauseum My nephew is also too clever and he often says I don't want your reward but I will do the favour for you.

Definitely love friends and family who are willing to "barter" for a helping hand. I am giving him more time than I usually would because he helped and didn't even gripe too much about it!

Indeed. Getting things off the list is great isn't it?

Very relieving and rewarding! It wasn't as bad as it has been. We used to let it get built up quite a bit. It was only about 15 boxes this time, and that's not bad considering four people were ordering.

Not often you see a young one willing to help someone out for free, He is being taught right.

I know his parents pay him what I would consider an exorbitant amount to do chores and the such. I wasn't expecting free labor.

As I was telling paigea above, I am not so sure this is my nephew. Sure seems like an impostor to me! I guess he has his moments.

@fishtiger58 He just got finished playing the game. Already spilled forth a little insult. That is another thing entirely. I tried to get him to understand that it's not nice but it seems no one else cares to correct him. He's 15.

My kids aren't the least bit helpful when it comes to doing chores. I give them chores to do but they don't do much.. mostly sit around on their phones. Then I have to get mean and make threats and then they give me attitude about having to do their chores. Maybe I should give them attitude about going to work everyday, but they wouldn't care, they'd tell me to just quit cause they don't realize what it would mean to them if I quit.

Go figure! They say the best things are free and the spirit goes on. And it only took 10 minutes!

nothing better than free help wouldn't it be nice if everyone who helped you just wanted something as simple as to just play a game on your console.

Free labor is the best labor! No, just kidding to a certain extent. That's awesome that he was willing to help you without expecting anything in return!
