Valentine's Day is around the corner. Will you be celebrating this holiday?

Valentine's Day is around the corner (2/14/16). Will you be celebrating this holiday? Are you going to start preparing in advance? Do you have any traditions with your significant other or friends/family? This will be my 9th year celebrating Valentine's Day with my boyfriend! I still remember the first Valentine's Day we shared, I made spaghetti with meatballs and side of garlic bread. (This was a big deal because I cannot cook at all and still can't). Throughout the years, we just celebrated in advanced at restaurants because during Valentine's Day weekend - the wait is outrageous! The last few years we celebrated at California Pizza Kitchen because they have a great Valentine's Day meal course deal. As for gifts, I always make personalized cards (usually handmade) and we buy each other small gifts. This year, I have no clue what do yet! And, when I went to school - during Valentine's Day, I would hand out Valentine's Day cards and candy gifts to all my friends. Any suggestions? What will you be planning? P.S. Happy Early Valentine's Day to all my Online Friends here on myLot! (Photo Credits) http://www.lovethispic.com/image/61505/happy-valentines-day-to-my-online-friends

I used to have a anniversary on Valentine's Day but not any more. Might buy something for the kids but that is all.

@celticeagle You used to have an anniversary on Valentine's Day?? I'm kind of apprehensive to thread here, but what happened?? By any chance do you ever do any decorating around the house just for old-times sake? Sorry if I'm being too nosey.

I hope all goes well! Sometimes no money is needed for Valentine's Day (or not much). There are tons of DIY on Pininterest! One of my favorites is a coupon book.

Lack of funds can be a real bummer, can't it? Hopefully things are better for you and your hubby this year like you said. At least you have a husband! (hashtag: the struggle is real, lol)

Haven't a clue what I'll do. I usually just get hubby a card and perhaps some chocolates. I usually do something for my daughters as well. I should think on that because I should send something to my university student daughter... except I think she will be home on the 15th for Reading Week. Cards and a few Hershey's kisses is all we really need.

@infatuatedbby Actually, don't want candy. Just finished off the Christmas candy and need to get back on the treadmill. I'm happy with just a card and maybe dinner out.

I am still unsure as to how we will spend this day. If I am not mistaken it's a Sunday so we will definitely be out and about after church. But we can't really go all out because we have work the following day. Besides, I think our regular dates seem like Valentine's Day celebration already.

Yes, this year Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday. It is going to be a busy weekend for Valentine's Day and followed by Monday (mainly people will have work). I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I just call it an early Valentine's Day + Anniversary since our yearly Anniversary is also in February.

Usually we go have lunch on Valentine's day, otherwise it is not much of a hype among us. To us, everyday is Valentine's day!

We don't really celebrate this day. I still remember the first Valentine's Day my husband and I were having, not really celebrating, was with a group of our high school friends. For a few years, we celebrated it together with some single friends, just had a meal on that night. I don't remember just both of us celebrated Valentine's Day. I told the story about St. Valentine to my son last year and made some heart shaped crafts for decorations as well. I remember I told my husband (who was still my boyfriend long time ago) not to give me flowers, as they are expensive and can't stay long. It's so sweet of you to hand out cards and candy gifts to your friends.

Valentine's Day holiday, is a way to make money for businesses especially flowers. I do not believe in buying flowers during these holidays because they are expensive and usually double if not can be triple price also! When I was younger, I loved making Valentine's Day crafts! Maybe you will make fun ones with your children.

@infatuatedbby Yes, I have made some heart-shaped crafts for or together with my children for Valentine's Day. I will need to find for some craft ideas as well. February will be a busy month for me, as there is Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day and my son's birthday. There are lots of crafts for me to do and stories to prepare as well. Hope you'll think of something to give to your boyfriend soon.

This year it will be another empty and lonely day. Wifey never had any interests of late and now that we have a baby girl who would be just two months old by the Valentines, I have no hopes of anything good happening to me on that day... Maybe I will have all the cold coffee all by myself.

@HomeBase The only times when we had enjoyed the Valentines was the next two or three years after marriage. She got busy with work and now she seems to be busier.

I don't usually do anything for valentines day. My view is you shouldn't have to take a day a year to claim you love someone you should show it everyday.

Yes, great point! But mainly because our yearly anniversary falls in February also we just say it's a combination of Valentine's day. I don't ask for roses or anything that jazz though! The price is double and not necessary.

We don't make a big deal about it, my husband would if I let him! Its just a day for the flower and candy and card people to make more money.

I'm single right now, so unless something drastically changes between now and then, I won't have a typical 'couples' Valentine. But, that being said, I plan to decorate my house for Valentine's Day... for myself and for my son. I'll decorate, buy chocolates and other candy to have around, put some fresh flowers in my kitchen and around my house as well.

Aww! No worries, you have your son and he can be your Valentine! Both of you can have a nice day! Decorating for Valentine's is fun! I like to decorate my desk.

I have nothing planned yet. I do not know if to prepare a nice dinner at home or if to go out for dinner, it's too early to decide. It depends also by the weather.
