Finally had to telephone the Travel Agency

My previous attempts to book a decent holiday around this time of year failed, so a while back I settled on taking a week in Turkey for the time being. As per usual I chose a holiday online and received an email within minutes. The following day I received confirmation that the booking was accepted and notified that the booking documents should arrive soon.
It is now just 8 days before I fly and no such documentation had arrived. It is far from urgent yet, but I had no intention of waiting until it became so, therefore I telephoned the company this morning.
I was informed that since the holiday was organised via Thomas Cook that they would supply the data. My immediate response was to point out that I had no booking reference for Thomas Cook and was thus unable to query this with them. I also questioned whether my email address had been forwarded to Thomas Cook to enable them to contact me.
This prompted the girl to check further and discover that in the absence of my email address the documents had been sent to the Travel Agency. This was then forwarded to me so now I have a reference for Thomas Cook and will be able to book in online.
This is a simple mistake, but does seem rather remiss of the company in the first place.

Mistakes are far too common. I just finished (?) battling one of the bureaucracies involved in my health insurance. It took months for them to finally (?) get it right (?). I won't be able to tell until March if the problem is actually fixed. Sigh.

@ElizabethWallace This is a major issue here in England, people seem to think that the company they work for owes them some loyalty, but show very little in return.
One of my pet hates when I was working was to hear colleagues saying "It is not my job" or "Nothing to do with me".

@Asylum You are correct, of course, but they are not. They are very common. It is the pet peeve that gives me the most trouble, I really do expect people to do the job for which they are paid.

Are you sure you trust that company?
Maybe you could book a stay on a beach in Australia?
I no nothing about traveling, I usually just drive over state lines and call it a mini vacation ... which lasts maybe 4 hours if I'm in the mood.

Pleased that you got it sorted but Turkey? There is so much unpleasant stuff goingon there that it would not have been my choice at all

@Asylum I hope you will enjoy your time there and that there will not be anything that could be cause for concern to those you leave behind here.

Very remiss. It is important to double check and it is good that you contacted the travel agency or you would still be in the dark and they may not have had time to get the documents to you if you had waited much longer.

@Asylum .....I would make sure that didn't work for them. A few words on their website or elsewhere would do the trick I am thinking. LOL

@celticeagle If they ever do something similar to me again I shall become quite hostile, but would always overlook a first error.

@fishtiger58 I was not overly concerned, but was not prepared to wait until it actually became an issue or great concern.

@Asylum I don't blame you I would have been nervous about the lack of information.

All they needed to do was to forward the email to me, which is so easy and failing to do so makes no sense at all. Without receiving those documents I would not have a holiday to go on, which is outrageous since the Travel Agency has already been paid in full by me.

It's a good thing you followed up with a phone call and didn't just assume everything was in order

Well yes it was remiss and what if you hadn't called? Would they have contacted you?
