The banana peels have plenty of great qualities. Instead to throw them in the bin, you can use them in many ways. * Use to whiten your teeth. Rub the teeth with the inside of the peel, it's more safe than a chemical product. * Relieve bug bites. * Polish the silver items. Blend the peel with water, apply and then remove with a clean cloth. * Use as fertilizer. Throw the peels in the compost, they are a great nutrient for the soil. Excellent for the roses. * Splinter Removal. Place the peel (peel down) on a splinter, let in place for a while and then ease the splinter out. Do you use or do you throw your banana peels? (Some tips are extracted by old books and magazine, where the copyright has expired - Others are from my Grandmother - This to satisfy the request of a user)

@pgntwo I did not add the shoe tip because I have not tried it personally. I never give tips if I have not tried them.

I'm dumbfounded. I knew nothing of this. I only know that they serve well to make people slip and break a leg. :-)

Yes, they are famous to make people slip and I have read a ridiculous tip, to keep the banana peel and make a kid party putting the peels on the floor, this sounds weird.

Wow didn't know about the teeth use. I must remember this. Is it helpful to make monkey sounds if using in front of someone? Seriously, healthy alternatives are great. Thanks.

There is a reason for the theeth. The minerals in the peel (like potassium, magnesium and manganese) absorb into the teeth and whiten them.

@LadyDuck It helps some but not for crowns and false. I notice a difference on my regular teeth but not the crowns.

We don't eat them so I don't buy them and the last thing I'd do with them is rub them on my teeth - that gives me the chills.

It works, you use the inside of the peel. My husband likes to have a banana on his waffle in the morning, I use the peels.

@rebel_woman06 banana peel is a good replacement for carrots for lumpia, siomai, meat balls and giniling. Just mince it in small bits.

I think to remember that Anne loves the roses, the banana peel near the roots of the roses are a good nutrient and keep the aphids away.

That's quite a few uses for banana peels. Mum used to put hers behind the staghorn fern so I guess that's a 'fertiliser' use.
