I have been watching this series on Amazon. It is about a British Army Officer who goes home after fighting in the Americas. When he arrives home he learns his father has passed on, his sweetheart is engaged to his cousin and his fortune has been squandered. He tries to open one of the tin mines and runs into problems. After a number of years he marries his serving girl to the dismay of his uncle and cousin who still have their fortune. Things do turn around for him and his family. I won't tell you any more of the story as you would watch to watch it.

@Auntylou It is very well done and he is a nice hunk of a man so I can see where the gals would go crazy over him.

Yes I have seen this Marcy, I also watched the Poldark show many years ago. It is a very interesting story which held my attention. It was in the 70s..
With Robin Ellis, Angharad Rees, Clive Francis, Jill Townsend. In 1783, Ross Poldark returns from the American wars to his native Cornwall to right wrongs and reunite with the love of his life.

@TiarasOceanView It is something I would watch more than once as it is really a good series. I have been very intrigued by the clothing they wear and the way they live.

@TiarasOceanView Yes, I forget to mention their clothes, I love the way the women dressed although some of the dresses were a little to low cut for my taste.

From the illustration, you are referring to the remake of Poldark that played on PBS last year. I have seen that series (a season two is coming) and the original two season series from the 1970s which was a huge success in the UK at the time.

Can't say that I will ever get to see the movie as I don't subscribe to Amazon. But, the movie you describe is one that is my favorite genre.

I didn't know that Amazon ran series or movies, which it sounds like this might be, like a mini-series or something? How do you access it, via your kindle or computer or what exactly? Maybe I'd consider checking it out.

@MarshaMusselman I stream it on my TV being a Prime member gives you that access. Amazon has many movies and series on there. Being a prime member also gives you free shipping when you buy something on Amazon, on most products although there are a few that don't but they tell you which ones.

@Marcyaz I don't know that I'd ever be a prime member, so I probably won't be able to watch it for a bit. Thanks for letting me know. I was going to check it out on the site and then forgot or got sidetracked.

Never heard of it but the actor used to be on Being Human as a vampire before he became a dwarf on The Hobbit. Oh, and he's Irish!
