It was primary day here in my state and I found it very ironic that the polling place was a church.

I worked as an exit poller when it was primary day here. It was in a school, but my normal voting place is also a church.

I think it might because of the size of The town. In my area some areas are a school other Are a church or Jewish temple.

My places I've ever voted have been in a church.

I am not American, in our country the polling places are always the schools, never (for no reason) a church.

It's not uncommon to use churches, schools and other public type halls as polling places.
