Suggestions?

I recently read a post about giving suggestions on people's articles/posts. Before reading this post, I had honestly forgotten/not been paying attention to the fact that that feature was even there. I have never given a suggestion to someone, nor have I ever received any. Have you had experience with the "suggestions" feature? Has it been good or bad?

Lets say you find a very nice post and you think it'd be of value to certain people. You can push the suggest button below the discussion and you'll get a list of those people you're able to suggest the post to.

When I come across what I consider to be an outstanding post I do suggest it, yes. And I'm delighted to receive my friends' suggestions too. People didn't like it when you could suggest your own posts, but now you can only suggest other people's it's a great feature. The suggest button is right next to 'report' and 'tag'.

Maybe it has been taken off--I didn't read the date on the post I was reading, it could have been really old. I can see though, where it might cause a problem.

Glad I'm not the only one. The person who posted the article I was reading evidently thought that it was important.

I've given suggestions where I thought they were appropriate because I knew the people I was suggesting a post to. I've received a number of suggestions from other members and they've all been of interest to me so far. My opinion is the suggest feature is good if used appropriately.

That's the problem, @Mike197602 -- not everyone uses something that is meant to be helpful appropriately, or gives "suggestions" that aren't just plain rude. I have received several rude comments on my posts, (never received anything in "suggestions") and I ignore them.

@Mike197602 Actually, we are talking about the same things, I just added something about comments on my posts. :) I was a bit confused at first about what the suggestion feature was for, though. Still, no on has ever suggested someone's post to me.

@xstitcher I think we may be talking about different things. I'm talking about the suggest feature on this site...not suggestions on discussions. What is written on your posts aren't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about receiving suggestions through the suggest feature which appear on notifications not posts.

I think the only time I ever used the suggest feature was while we were still allowed to suggest our own posts. Someone had expressed interest in knowing more about something I'd written, so I suggested my next post on the subject to him, but to the best of my knowledge he never read it.
