You don't belong here. I expect to see puddles of water in the yard when I come home from work, not puddles of snapping turtles.
But there he was...as soon a I got out of the van in the driveway, about 5 feet away off to one side.
I think it needs to stop raining....

It's known as a common snapping turtle, they're pretty mean

@MarymargII I used to go fishing quite a bit, and occasionally I'd have one eat the fish off of my stringer.

@JolietJake yes- I'm remembering there's lots in Ontario too- I remember when we used to go camping there were tons in the lakes and rivers.

That's a great picture of a snapper. I haven't seen one in a while. I only saw a box turtle last year. It was in the middle of the path and I stopped the 4-wheeler just in time to avoid hitting it. I picked it up and it hissed at me. But it was safe, and that's what matters.
One year there was a drought and the streams dried up. I found a little box turtle in the only puddle left in the stream. Turtles just like puddles!

@JolietJake That's a great shot of one. My driveway doesn't get that wet to allow one to show up!

@JolietJake It's ok, he doesn't seem to be harmful anyway.

He's just a common snapper...probably about 12 inches long, big enough to grab a few toes

Instead of raining cats and dogs, it is raining turtles for you. I love it. God looked down on you and decided you needed another pet. Poof! Done! You now have a pet turtle. Take good care of him/her. What are you going to name this new pet?

I was worried it might wander over to where I tie him out at, but he was gone by the time Scar got ready to go out
