Not so great pancakes at McDonald's

United States
April 26, 2016 11:46am CST
I had to have blood work done this morning, 8 am this morning. That meant I could not eat prior to that. Needless to say I was hungry when it was over so we headed to McDonald's. I knew they serve pancakes, which is the only thing I would eat there. I guess I won't be ordering them ever again. I was very disappointed. I could have bounced them across the room they were so rubbery. They had absolutely no flavor, even after I loaded them up with syrup. It is days like this I wish we had an IHOP or some other convenient place that serves good pancakes. Do you ever get your taste buds ready for something and then are disappointed? I know what you mean on having your taste buds ready to eat something "supposed to be" delicious and it was disgusting! I hope you were able to clear your taste buds with something yummy afterwards though!!

I don't think I'd expect them to be good at McDonalds

That's about the only think I would eat there since it's not fried or made of eggs or bacon or sausage, all of which I can't eat.

I'd rather have pancakes from McDonald's than at IHOP. IHOP is such a jip joint. None of their food is wholesome. Their pancakes are airy with have no substance.Yes, I have gotten my taste buds ready and each time something changes. It's life.

@AbbyGreenhill .....We quit going to the one here. What a waste. We gt to a restaurant now called The Pantry. and their ingredients are all home grown. I guess I am rather spoiled. LOL

The IHOP that we used to go to served great pancakes. We joined their birthday club so we free pancakes on birthdays. I was never disappointed - but maybe all IHOP's are not equal. The rubber pancakes at MdD's weren't worth their price.

@celticeagle Where we live we have extremely limited restaurants. For anything decent it's over an hour's ride each way.

I am never disappointed with the McDonald's pancakes at my local McDonald's. That is the thing I like to get best there and I have gotten it there for years and each time, the pancakes are warm and tasty. I am sorry you had a bad experience.

I guess I am able to eat such limited things that the things I can eat I expect to be really good.

I do not believe I would be disappointed by anything served at McDonald's because I would never expect a great taste. I am sorry you were unhappy.

Oh goodness yes that has happened to me-just a couple weeks ago actually. I got a chicken finger plate from Zaxby's-I usually love their food so I was looking forward to it. Then I got it...the fries had NO seasoning on them whatsoever, the toast was burnt, they didn't give me the mayonaise we asked for and the chicken was hard to chew. It was bad!

@AbbyGreenhill No, I thought about complaining but then I felt bad so I didn't. My husband told me I should have called, but I am not one to cause a problem or scene.

That is too bad. I would have thought that they wouldn't be half bad! Personally I like their oatmeal... no sugar but with the fresh fruit on top!!

I know what you mean about McDonald's pancakes, and most other fast food places as well. Sometimes these things just have to be done though

Last time I ate at an IHOP I was disappointed too. The prices were outrageous and the portions just sos so.....Really, $18.00 for some pancakes? Were they gold plated?

We belonged to the birthday club, so you got 3 pancakes free on your b-day. They were always good at our IHOP but now we live an hour away.

I have never tasted pancakes at McDonald's. But last week I got a chance to eat dates stuffed hot pancakes served with a scoop of vanilla icecream. That was very tasty. I have never eaten such a combination before. I liked it.

Gross. That sounds super unpleasant. I will admit some of their breakfast menu is good but I have never heard good things about the pancakes. Yikes

We've been making pancakes and waffles from scratch for years now. When we go out for pancakes or waffles, they all taste so overly sweet and rubbery to me. It's got to be real maple syrup for me too.
