Cataract Surgery Will Be In October

Just came back from the ophthalmologist office. Still see blurry from the eye drops but it will take a few hours to get back to normal. The verdict: I was right. The cataracts have gotten worse. So the doctor's office will call me during the summer for surgery in October only. That will give me time to get used to it.

I was very apprehensive when my cataract operation was due, but the experience proved to be very simple.

Technology has come a long ways. I hear it is a fairly simple surgery.

Ugh! Well that gives you time to research it or whatever you feel you need to do to feel comfortable about it.

@marlina ....I always wondered about that too. But they much relax you or something so you don't move. Maybe they strap you in. LOL

I am mostly worried about moving my head and that the doc will cut me.

Long time to wait - the waiting is always worse than the actual event.

@AbbyGreenhill Yes, it is normal here. They would do it if it turns out to be an emergency which does happen once in a while.

@marlina They are great at putting you at ease, even though it is only a local anaesthetic.

@marlina That is awesome you have free health care there. I see you have to wait though until they can do it since it is free they must put priority first.. or money :(

They are waiting until October as there is a big waiting list. WE have FREE health care here in Canada. If I were rich, I am sure that I could have it done tomorrow.

I had it on the right eye, the left is still okay. Now cataract surgery is normal but one eye at a time to be safe - siva

don't worry about it, the surgery is a snap and the results are great. I had my eyes done about 4 years ago. getting the eyes dialated with the drops are the worst part of it..
