A Melancholy Day

June is a month of anniversaries. Today is the 43rd anniversary of my honorable discharge from the Navy. Friday June 3rd will be the 45th anniversary of my graduation from high school. June 9th will be my 44th anniversary of graduating from Boot Camp.
So today has been a bit melancholy for me. I enjoyed my time in service, though short lived. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Other things to remember this month are not so great. Father's Day is always around Dad's birthday which was June 16 when he would have been 85, and my brother passed two years ago on Father's Day, which then was the day before my dad's birthday. Not a great day for my dad when my brother died. We were all hoping to get together for Father's Day that year, and we did, just not the way we wanted to.
So today has been a bit of a nostalgic day, and the month will be the same.
Do you have memories for this month?
It's also Dairy Month, so if you're not lactose intolerant - drink your milk

I had this painted for my parent's wedding anniversary. I just got it back a couple months ago when we cleaned out the house prior to the sale. This picture always amazes me. I really was beautiful back then, though I never would have believed it if anyone had told me. The sad part is, my parents hid this picture and I never once saw it when I went home. I even looked for it once, and never found it. My sister found it when she was cleaning out the house.

We all have memories, some good, some bad. We need to remember the good moments even when we are saddened by the memory of a day that was sad.

@just4him I graduated from high school 40 years ago this month. The day eludes me. Guess I am aging or it just doesn't matter.

@ElusiveButterfly For some people anniversaries like that don't matter. However, I was reminded of it as I'm having my 45th class reunion this summer.

@Letranknight2015 I didn't find it hard. Boot Camp was hard, but not afterwards. I did find it exciting to be part of such a great organization.

Yes, there can be many happy and sad events for us to remember. Today is the two-year anniversary of our daughter's brain aneurysm which, fortunately, she survived.

I'm sad to hear about your husband's brother. Is he the one I've seen in photo's of you in Florida? Thanks. That's a wig by the way. I didn't want to cut my hair when I went in the Navy, so the alternative was to get a wig.

Well, I have no problem drinking milk but I drink coffee right now . Anyway, June is memorable to me. Seems this June is the best because my eldest daughter is graduating on June 13. Oh, I forget, it also my birthday in June 8. I try to forget my birthday for I hate when one year is added to my age hahaha.

It's something that happens whether we like it or not. Happy Birthday to your daughter and you.
