Koalemos may be dangerous

The above quote is not mine, but that of my mobile phone. Like most mobile phones these days it is internet capable. Whenever I am at home the mobile links to my wifi router automatically. Koalemos is the name of my home network. Since I set up this router interface myself it is certainly far safer than any public access point, yet my mobile frequently displays the above warning at home but not elsewhere. I find this quite amusing and wonder how many people would take such a warning seriously.

As long as it is nothing personal. I have had for years my computer filled with warnings that it will explode in my face and fill my home and myself with all sorts of viruses. Up to now, nothing has happened. I think those are word terrorists.

I could understand if the mobile had been referring to me, but my router does not deserve such accusations.

@marguicha I probably already qualify as dangerous to a person's sanity.

What does it mean when it flashes that message on your mobile ? It could mean something not nice activity on your phone like its having virus?

It is trying to tell me that my WiFi network is not secure and therefore is risky to use. This is clearly nonsense because I set up the network myself. For some odd reason it never warns me when I am in the vicinity of a public WiFi network, which is certainly not secure.

@SIMPLYD Koalemos is the only network that I would trust, yet the only one that my mobile issues a warning about.

It is only my mobile, whereas my desktop, laptop and tablet disagree.

I get similar messages about my home network. It's rather frustrating because it's sort of like "crying wolf". Suppose one day it happens that my home network does get invaded by an evil uninvited party, I might ignore the warning that I should have paid attention to. But anyway ... it's technology. Technology will never replace human intelligence and it's not perfect. So we live with I.T. and work around I.T. It is a convenience and we put up with the flaws.

This is perfectly true. The conical thing is that I never get such warnings away from home, where they would be justified.

The day your router explodes you'll know you should have heeded the warning,

Two minutes later I would be back online because I have a spare router, spare splitter and spare RJ15 to RJ45 cable.

I think that it must be the other way around because I know exactly how secure and reliable my router status is. I began using a router about 15 years ago, which was well before they were capable of detecting the line and auto configuring the set up. Therefore I never rely on automatic setup and configure the router manually.

Public WiFi is always dubious. I use public WiFi when on holiday, but would certainly never visit a financial website via such access.

Maybe the Koalemos owner doesn't allow you to use wifi router ,so they keeps showing that to scare you.

I keep wifi turned off as it seems to drain the battery. Still getting used to having a phone again after so many years without one.

WiFi can be a demand on a mobile phone battery, but fortunately the battery in mine is quite good. Even with WiFi on the battery will last several days and I always charge it overnight.
