Mind the silence

During my silence, i am screaming. Sat down in a chair, where the table.is good.for four, and near the door. Best spot to contemplate. With a background song about moving on, my brain is moving too, wandering. Thinking of how lovely the cathedral is, with foreign tourists in front taking pictures. Then a tricycle caught my eye, oppss! Almost hit that parked motorbike. A man got in, who never bothered to hold the door for the two ladies next to him. Ahh, why some can not do that. With the crew of the fastfood i am.in, i saw the garbage bag filled with leftover fries. Sigh. During my silence, i can hear friends laughing and having fun while eating, something good is happening too. I should do this more often, stay in silence and just listen and let your eyes wander and have the brain do some talking. "Why are we embarrassed by silence? What comfort do we find in all the noise?"--- Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie

It's interesting to sometimes just sit and people watch.

I love to sit and people watch. I could spend a whole day in one area just watching. It is peaceful and very relaxing. I am never in a hurry at the airports or cruise terminals.

Wonderful contemplation. We need to sit in silence once in a while and yes, let our brain do the talking.

The world around us is getting noisier by the day Silence is golden but can be deafening too for some. I can be alone but never feel lonely. It is good to take a breather to pause, ponder and reflect - siva

@ramapo17 I think even among couples who love each other very much, it is better to spend some time alone to understand ourselves better. I used to do that at my workplace too, go earlier than others to plan my schedules - siva

You have found your inner self. From meditation and observation you can witness many wonders as a spectator looking across a room filled with people in conversation. Then there are times I only wish I could hear the silence. Unfortunately I have a serious condition called Tinnitus. Sound tends to ease the severity of this condition. I once was able to hear the silence. I have actually cried during a moment of silence. I guess I was really stressed and the tears were my way of letting go of it.

@Lucky15 , I certainly appreciate your kindness. I feel that being quiet in one's mind, is the key to inner calm and then there are times for music, laughter and of course some noise.

(gentle smile) As much as I talk here on myLot, you must think there is never silence in my life, Reine... In real life, I am probably one of the quietest people you know. I can't concentrate through noise. There is no music playing in the background here, there is no television or radio running. I can't even hear Pretty doing whatever she is doing in the house. I like silence. I can be alone with my thoughts. I read what others write, think about what they have to say and maybe make a reply... sometimes not. (Is that surprising to you? grinning at you) Yeah, some of you always get my thoughts on whatever subject you write that interests me. (gentle smile) I would feel remiss if I simply said nothing to some people here on myLot. If you ask for my input, how can I remain silent? Yeah, sometimes I have no opinion on what you are talking about, so you might get a "like" and I move on, but I really try not to do that to a certain group of people... (You might be among that group, hon.) People and how they think is fascinating... or can be. Sometimes people are simply ignorant... (Ignorant is not the same as stupid. Stupid is forever.... Ignorance can be fixed with the judicious application of knowledge.) Once in a while, people are stupid. When I notice someone being stupid, I usually just pass on without "liking" what is written or making a comment. LOL! Once in a while, I make a comment simply to irritate someone, too. I tend to like almost everyone I've met on myLot. The very few I don't care for..... I simply ignore. I hope you have had and are having a wonderful time here on myLot, Reine... I am doing my best to help you towards that end. (smile)

@Lucky15 My job forces me to talk a lot... Sometimes, I feel like I cheat my daughter because when I have a day off or when I get home in the evening, I say what I NEED to say and I am done... Unless she asks me something, we may not talk again until the next day... I wonder if that is why she seems to prefer talking to people online rather than write her thoughts as we do here? Most of her friends use Skype. If she leaves her door to her room open, I will hear her talking any time I open my room's door. Thank you... you are always a good friend!

What the eyes see does not necessarily interrupt the silence... It is what you choose to do about what the eyes see that can interrupt the silence. Just my own opinion, of course, Erly... (shrug!)(smile)

@DaddyEvil The eyes can interrupt the mind that wants peace. If there is a problem the solution cannot be digested because of what the eyes tell. The concentration is diverted though can help the prior disturbance , but when the person goes back to her real world, the existing problem is still there.

I do love silence. My husband just left, the TV is now off and I like it. I do like to sit in a public place and just watch, and sit and think too. I have never wanted an ipod or any thing like that to have constant noise in my ears.
