I've been drinking lime water because my limes keep giving me fruits. It helps keep breath fresh apart from the benefits you mentioned.

@1hopefulman You are right, they have almost the same health benefits although limes have stronger flavor.

Many may think that lemon is acidic, and I was surprised to learn that it actually is supposed to be alkaline. That is what I found, but anyone can test and see if it is true.

@1hopefulman I've done it now and then, especially if I find organic lemons, and they are not too expensive. Have to start drinking it again.

Apparently it is acidic in the mouth but alkaline in the body. Do you use lemon water?

Lemon water has the opposite effect. It alkalizes rather than acidifies.

Some say that the acid in the lemon damages the enamel. I found quite a few that have pointed this out. I actually found that my teeth hurt after drinking lemon water and by using a straw it was much better.

I have never experienced any teeth problems with drinking lemon water. I have discovered, however, that my gums are much healthier when drinking lemon water regularly.

I've heard that it is even better with hot water as it activates the nutrients but not too hot.

Lemon juice in hot water is very good for sore throats and laryngitis. I know a singer who drinks it before she performs.

I like lemon water and I squeeze a lemon in my water when I have some in the house. It is good for your digestion and that alone is a good reason to squeeze lemon into your water.

For the last 6 years I have been drinking lemon water (around 3 glasses) every morning before consuming anything else. I now swear by it. I have experienced a very significant undeniable increase in my overall health. I can't imagine going back to any other early morning routine.

Yes, I've found many testimonies about lemon-water helping them with weight loss. At this time I can't say much about it personally as I just started a week ago. I found that limes are more reasonably priced and so I will alternate between the two for a while. It does help me drink more water.

@1hopefulman I've also read about the benefits of drinking lemon water. I tried it for a while but gave up as lemons are getting more and more expensive here.

I do, I do and I've been doing it for a long time. I have allergic rhinitis, but I noticed from the time I've been drinking lemon infused water, I don't seem to get them anymore. I also noticed that I have better digestion and I go to the toilet regularly. I get constipated when I don't drink my lemon water.

I guess there is nothing harmful about trying it out to see if it works. I loved lemon on fish or in a salad.

I have never really thought about the benefits apart from the fact that it doesn't have all that added sugar you get in soft drinks. To me the lemon or lime just makes the water more refreshing.

I think I agree with you. A little squirt of lemon changes the flavor of the water. I have tried it for about 10 days now (using 1/2 lemon or 1 lime) and I have stopped as I find that my teeth are sensitive and have not seen or felt any special benefits. Right now I am taking a break for a few days to see what happens. From my logic, since the lemon is too acidic to eat by itself, it is not for human consumption. Unless they get sweeter, oranges are better.

I used to do that when life is less busier.

Yes!!! Absolutely! Lemon and lime are very alkalizing fruits (despite their acidic taste) to include in our diet. I certainly recommend using a straw, as the acids present can wreak havoc on your tooth enamel. I enjoy lemon water in the morning. It definitely helps me to feel energized. :) God bless.
