I thought the world would end last night

Some people have been calling this year's American baseball World Series the "Armageddon 'Series." Why? Because it was between the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs, two teams that NEVER win the World Series. The Chicago Cubs had last won a World Series in 1908. The Cleveland Indians had last won a World Series in 1948. Something had to give, and many assumed that the world would end as soon as the 'Series was over. Something had to give. I hoped it would end in a tie. In a sense, it did, as the score was 6-6 after nine innings. But the Cubs manged to scratch out an 8-7 win in ten innings, ending their 108-year drought. When I awoke this morning, I expected to see a scene from a Bosch painting. Instead, I saw sparking sunshine and green trees, refreshed by the recent rains. I'm convinced it's because the game went into extra innings. Did you watch the game?

I watched it. At least we don't have hear people from Chicago whine and moan over the Cubs always losing.

I'll be rooting for Cleveland next year if the Giants don't make it. If the Giants play the Indians in the Series, I'll be torn. I'm a Giants fan first (and a Cubs fan second), but I'd like to see the Indians win.

@JohnRoberts The Angels did well against my Giants in 2002. But they've been quiet recently. Are the Dodgers finally getting some team chemistry?

No, I never watch baseball. However, I am unable to fully confirm that the world has not ended.

@Asylum As you said, it may already have happened. I did see humans out there, but there's no proof it wasn't all an illusion.

No, that was a disaster for the Warriors. I've only watched the Warriors in bits and pieces. It's easy to underestimate how good Bogut was as a post player.

No not from here. The last World Series I watched I lived in NYC and the Yankees won and I saw the ticker tape parade in Manhattan.

@TheHorse sorry got things totally confused. It was when the NY Mets won in 1986
This footage originally aired on October 28, 1986 on WPIX-TV a day after the Mets beat the Boston Red Sox in the seventh and final game of the World Series. ...

Was it available there? The Yankees have won more World Series than any other team. I haven't gone to the Giants parades here.

I'm glad the Red Sox won a couple of World Series as well. Francona managed them, right? Now (next year) it's Cleveland's turn.

nope, but I do feel this one is going down as The Game, so close, and two teams that had lost for so long, pretty amazing

I heard one former baseball player today on the radio. He was BLASTING the Cubs' Manager's decisions last night. I agree with him (the player), but I still think he's a good Manager. I'm glad the Cubs managed to win. Next year I'm rooting for Cleveland.

I didn't watch the game @TheHorse but I would have been happy for either team to have won simply because of the drought for the both of them.

It was a pretty "historical" World Series. When do pitchers and catchers report? (Baseball talk for already looking forward to next season.)
