I just read a shocking post.

And wondered... Is there an antilike response. It is not that I want to report the post. Each one of us has the right to have its views. I don´t want to block the mylotter either. He/she could write other interesting posts. So... Is there a way to express a dislike for a post? I´d like to know. Shoud I go and @AskAlice ? Should I ask @Owlwings ?

I usually just hit the like button if I read it until the end. If not, if it offended me (which is not easy to do) or was in very bad taste,I would just go on about my business.

It is not offensive or of a bad taste. It is dangerous.

@marguicha Oh, well maybe it needs to be reported then. We want safety for all.

@marguicha Possibly the person has a different perspective about politics. Some people are not aware that their posts may be offensive as well and disrespectful. Politics and religions are such sensitive topics.

@chiwasaki It is not offensive. It is worse than that to me.

There's no 'Dislike' button (it was removed when the current version of MyLot was rolled out in 2013). If you think that a discussion violates (or may violate) the Terms or the Guidelines, you can report it but, if its just a discussion which expresses ideas which are in opposition to yours, you have the option of ignoring it or of responding to it to express your opinion. It is inevitable that we will find opinions here which are diametrically opposed to our own. If you feel that you can argue the case against such opinions in a rational and logical manner, then that is what discussion is about. If you prefer to leave it alone and say nothing (often the wisest course where someone is clearly bigoted and you suspect that discussing the subject intelligently by posting your own views may well be interpreted as 'attack' and 'argument') then that is valid, too.

@marguicha I saw the post I think you referred to and felt that it was alarmist and bigoted but no more so than many other posts I've seen here and elsewhere. Since neither I nor (presumably) you have any say in the Presidential election, it's probably best not to get involved and to wait with trepidation for the results, which don't seem to offer much joy for anyone, whichever way they go!

I suppose that now, after talking the post overto the pillow, I think it isbetter to just leave it.

I seem to remember that one site, possibly Bubblews, had a dislike button and it was abused by some members who had vendettas against others. Some people hit it by mistake on inoffensive posts and upset the writers of them.

This is a discussion site...just get on there and discuss# If it breaks the rules report it...if not don't ask anyone do your own thing as people do need to realise a discussion site may throw up some distasteful discussions so if it doesn't break the rules get stuck in. PS...if it is shocking I want in...PM me

If I don't like what is being discussed on a post, I just ignore it and don't write any comment...

@marguicha For me, it is better to ignore it than write negative comment about it...

If it breaks the rules/tos then report it. Otherwise just walk away and pretend lie you never saw it.

I think the only way would be to comment on the post. Perhaps admin or Owlwings will respond.
