Hey there. I've been busy with other stuff, but I don't wanna skip another day of writing. I'm doing another Facts About Me, and this one is about my work from home job (I'm a freelance writer)....
1. I sort of got my feet wet in freelance writing in 2009, but I don't think I got into it part/full time until the 2010.
2. I started when some family members introduced me to Associated Content (aka Yahoo! Contributor Network). I tried it in 2009 and then I didn't do it again until 2010, when I realized I didn't have much money in my bank account.
3. I wrote on Associated Content, Bukisa and Triond, and occasionally Best Reviewer and Bright Hub. I didn't make a lot of money on any of them, but I did make some money, and I gained experience in freelance writing.
4. I eventually moved on to websites where clients placed work on a job board, rather than editors approving my articles for upfront pay, and this included Textbroker, Zerys and Writer Access. I still write on Textbroker daily/weekly, Zerys monthly and Writer Access on occasion.
5. I have always enjoyed writing, and I have always wanted to do it for a living, which is what I'm doing now when you really think about it. I love being able to set my own schedule, work from home and not have to worry about getting to/from work. I just need to up my game with it in general, and work on my procrastination/time management, and soon.
There you go, a little glimpse into my work from home life. I hope you're all having a good evening, and being as productive as you want to be. Take care, fellow MyLotters!

I never worked quite hard enough at it to make it really worthwhile. Now that I am getting comfortable in my outside job, I may jump back into Textbroker. I liked that they were always reliable and paid.

I like the way you write, and I try and read each of your posts. I too want to make writing as a means of living. Where do you think I should begin with? I don't mind if I don't get paid much, but I'd really like to have some experience behind me before making a decent earning.

I think Textbroker would be a good start; they have different writing levels (the higher the level; the more work), different clients/types of work and helpful blogs/forums. Plus if you get a 2 or 3 star level, you can use the editor feedback and "Textbroker University" to help you move up.

I could have written something similar myself. I've tried some of the sites you mentioned but never really got anywhere. I now offer my services as a writer to anyone who wants them, as well as offering proof-reading and editing services to other writers. I've given up on trying to make money from different online places. Now, I have my own WordPress site and I'm working on writing a book. I've been a keen writer since I was 7 years old, I've worked as an editor and content producer for a local business magazine. My former favourite place to writer (where I could earn through both the RSS feed and their market place) no longer exists. I find it too difficult to keep up with lots of different places so I'm sticking with myLot and my own websites now! Other than that, it's all individual freelance work.
It is nice to have my own schedule, although I also have two other part-time jobs and a child I have to get to school and take to other places. I have the same problem as you with procrastinating and time management!
Good luck in your exploits.

@tammys85 Thank you :) Business isn't going great. I only have one student for my tutoring business and currently no paid writing work! Still, I'll keep going and get myself out there. :)

That's awesome that you're in business for yourself! One day I'll take that step. It's good to have your own schedule. I love it, just gotta work on the procrastinating and time management lol.
Thank you so much, and good luck with yours as well! :)

Great sites! Like you, I'm also a freelancer. I do my regular job during day time. AT night time and during weekends, I'm on Upwork rendering legal services (legal consulting, legal writing, legal research) to my clients. I also do translation on different translation sites, one of which is Onehourtranslation.

I also work from home doing freelance gigs, mostly writing and data entry. I have a bad habit of procrastinating and mismanaging my time. That's something I need to work on in the coming year.
