Anyone Who Would Unfriend You

Anyone who would unfriend you because you do not copy and paste, share, like or comment on something they posted is no kind of friend at all. I see five or six threatening shares and posts like this daily. It is not funny, or cute, or realistic. Yes, we have all lost friends, family and loved ones to cancer. That does not mean we should fill the internet with copy cat posts. By the way, the funky math problems, blurry images of numbers and animals, sentences written backwards or with punctuation between the letters do not prove intelligence or ability to do anything. It just shows how your brain works even when you are not paying attention. Those "impossible quizzes" that tell you you are a genius--nope. I have done a few, not too hard even for me. They prove nothing. Oh, and a like, share, comment, is not a prayer. God is not counting them up. A prayer is communication with God, or with your spiritual being. I do enjoy all of my friends who share scripture and song that has meaning for them, just because they want to. They do not ask ME to share, or threaten me with punishment. Like I said, a real friend does not threaten you.

I never have any of this so I'm wondering is it all on FB? It seems to me FB is full of this sort of rubbish.

Yes, it is all on Facebook. I do know occasionally others HERE have been blocked for having disagreeing views. To me, various view points can be educational.

@GardenGerty It's just about disagreeing or discussing with respect. If you put something across respectfully and without getting personal it should be okay and, as you say, people could learn a lot.

I tend to ignore all those 'threats' to my livelihood if I don't share something in so many minutes. I'm still here.

Yep, me too. Many of them even when they say "I am checking to see who reads my wall" never check back. It would be such a huge waste of time. I want real posts on my wall or on my timeline. Things that tell me what you are doing.

FB has it all over me. I just accepted someone and my page is loaded with her shares. I am soon going to hide her contributions. You can do that too. Just hide and they will not come on your page.

I have watched how my daughter in law has developed and matured about her usage there. She used to post constantly, with too much information. Now she is very conservative and that is good.

So very well said, I do not like to share everything people post asking to share. I hate to share links and I do not like that people ask to me to do something. If they want to unfriend me, it's their problem, it means they are not real friends.

The more I learn about social media seems the less I like it. It doesn't seem like a fun, friendly thing to me. All the face book trending of this century or imitations of it seem to me now like a bad idea. It was launched how long ago?... in 2004 and now 12 years later people are either loving it or hating it.

What gets me is what the site actually does for people? But I know not everyone has the same computer skills. Still it isn't difficult these days to create a blog with message capability and share the link with friends. Why do people use the site? Maybe a lot of people think of it as cool to have a FACEBOOK page. Oh, look at me I am so cool because I am on the face book? Big deal?

@Bluedoll Yes, Facebook became available to everyone 12 years ago. I joined 7 years ago to keep in touch with a cousin who live in Italy. I have a very limited activity there and only a few friends. As it is used by many it's a very VERY bad idea.

@GardenGerty I got the job, well Im with the temp agency, I log on and pick my jobs. If I dont have one picked, or have a nonworking day in the system, I can get calls. I will always get emails with jobs. Im better preplanning though, so I watch the absence site, so I can pick what I do. I am NOT ready to be the lead teacher yet, so going for classroom aides and paraprof and stuff.

I agree. There is too much of that garbage on FB. I did one yesterday, but haven't ever lost a friend over anything on FB.

If you really believe in what they share, or support the cause or enjoy the recipe, it is okay to share. But as you say, I have never lost a friend over it, regardless of what they say.

@GardenGerty Some people seem to post anything just to acquire more Likes, which do not really serve any purpose.

Stopit
I don't think I've ever seen one that threatens to unfriend for not sharing (although a few kind of imply it by saying "I think I know who will & who won't"), but it's usually closer to 'if you don't share this, YOU HATE GOD! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR'

I love that meme!! As even some friends here have pointed out most of the people who are featured in the post do not ever see it. God does not sit in heaven and say "Little Billy has to die, he was ten likes short!".

Very concise. God is not on Facebook, although he can see our shenanigans. As the Bible says, "Not everyone who says ''Lord, Lord" is going to be in the Kingdom of Heaven."

I see those on FB all the time. I mostly ignore them, although sometimes I will see something that touches me deeply and I will share it. I won't tell friends that they HAVE to share anything, or copy and paste anything, because they each have free will do so as they see fit. Unfriending for those reasons is silly, but yes, some people do it. Maybe they don't understand the real meaning of friendship. Too sad.

I share what I like or what moves me. I have friends who might share something like that and add their own foot note that we do not have to share, they just liked the post.

@GardenGerty My FB friends are mostly the same. And sometimes we get into some really fun discussions over something or other. Over time I've really come to love my FB friends. I've never met some of them, but I still consider them close friends.

It doesn't make sense if you unfriend a friend just not to do the task they want you to do, friendship does not measure in sharing, liking, copy paste or even posting. Its a childish attitude. Even me i don't really post and like on facebook unless i know the event.. Its like a posting, liking or copy paste challenge and you fail you'll be punished.. nonsense...

Exactly. I have many friends here, and on facebook. Many of them believe and live differently than I do, but I value them as friends and would not unfriend them over something like that anyway.
