When I arrived home last Monday from the office , hubby was already at home from his work and he irritatingly asked me why I was so late already in going home . I told him I went to the mall and searched for a blouse for our office Christmas party but nothing suited me. He got angry and told me that I have lots of beautiful blouses to choose from . In fact , he said the blouse I was wearing that day is beautiful , it could do already and told me I shouldn’t have worn it that day . So , to appease him , I fitted some of my blouses and he chose the red one , I wore on our Christmas party two years ago . Fine , I told him . Only to know the next day, that the theme Glam Rock for the party is of black and white ensemble. I will be the odd one if I wear my red blouse . Thus , yesterday upon dismissal , I went to the other mall and there found a black and white blouse that suited me well . I went home hurriedly while he is still not home yet . I didn’t tell him about it , because he might not fetch me from the party had he known I bought a new one despite him telling me not to , anymore . I hope he won’t get angry when he fetches me from our party on Friday and saw me in that new blouse . I will be changing into that at the office before it starts because we still have to work the whole day until 6:30 before it starts at 8:00 p.m. Let's see what happens when he fetches me on Friday .

It is bad that spouses are not invited to the party, you should have offered him to go there with his preferred red clothing. Christmas is not a time for disputes and tension, he will probably wait a week or two before asking to divorce.

You made me laugh out loud with you comment. Actually , this office party is always just for the employees . He for his part has already attended their office Christmas party too , last December 03 . He knows it's always for employees as all companies do . Yeah Christmas is not a time for disputes so i should expect that he divorces me later on January .

@SIMPLYD Same here, spouses are not invited. Many companies in France are also organizing a Christmas tree party for the children of their employees. There is often a little show and some gifts for the children. It is usually during a weekend, and parents are not invited... but they have chosen the gift before on a list given by the company.

I would like to go with the advice of @shaynas that it would be better to tell him in advance rather than giving him shock on the day of the party. If you do not tell and he comes to your office to fetch you, seeing you in new blouse would unnecessary may enrage him and he might create a scene there and then itself. You could do one thing - after reaching your office on the day of the party, you could tell that your friend has arranged/bought a party theme blouse for you and you will wear it in the evening.

I wonder if buying a blouse for herself is such an issue that would make the husband angry?

I will just pray that he will not get angry when he fetches me after the party and see that i have bought a new blouse despite his saying not to anymore . He knows that most parties have themes for the Christmas party because he just had a themed party last December 03 , for their office . Anyway , i will be treating him to his favorite crispy pata .

@shaynas Actually , what he is angry at is that despite having new blouses from her auntie who came home for good from the States , i still would buy a new house . I forgot to tell him we have a black and white themed party for the attires .

I will be glad , because he didn't notice it . Because for sure he would reprimand me again for being so materialistic , as he told me .

Just tell him you had that blouse for years and found it in the back of the closet. I'm lucky my husband doesn't get mad at me for shopping. He knows how materialistic I am. Besides, he likes to see me in pretty new things.

Nice suggestion . But he knows that when i have a new blouse or something , i will really wear it at once . Good for you that your hubby is so understanding . But i understand him for being that way . I had an issue before of overspending that's why .

is he annoyed because you didn't tell/text him ahead of time that you will drop by the mall? why do you have to be home ahead of him, to cook dinner?

That's also another reason . I was so late in going home , yet i didn't text him about it . No , i don't cook dinner . But he knows that i should be home by at least 7:30 , this time was already way beyond that perhaps 10:00 , and when i told him i was looking for a new blouse , that made him angry more because i have many new nice blouses from her auntie who came home for good from the US .

I guess I'm lucky, my husband would love it if I went shopping, I hate to shop. My favorite store is called Value Village and its a second hand store, the clothes there are amazingly beautiful and expensive originally but very affordable as a hand me down. I bought 5 blouses for my last trip and spent a whopping big $11.00 Canadian.

Yes indeed you are lucky to have a husband who loves you to shop. Well, as for me i know he is doing this because i had an issue before of overspending specially on new clothes , shoes and bags . Besides , he saw my new blouses which were recently given to me by her auntie who came home from the US for good , so he gets irked i am looking for one again , just for the party . What i just learned though was that i would be out of place in that red blouse he chose for me because the party is themed Glam Rock which is denims and black and white get up with jacket or a coat . I really hope he won't get angry when he fetches me from the party and see my new blouse .

Good luck with the blouse. You could always slip the red one on before going to the door when your husband picks you up....then again....my husband probably wouldn't notice anyway.

I was thinking of that actually , because he will not see me dress for the party because i will just be bringing my get-up for the party in a big bag , so i won't be going home anymore after our dismissal at 6:00 p.m. I will just dress up at the office for the party . Though , i don't want to hide it from him anymore so i am just be on it when he fetches me . Hopefully , he won't get angry with me .

Actually , i am really thinking of changing before he arrives to fetch me . Though , on second thoughts i will take the risk , of letting him see it and i will explain i really have to buy because the red is very much in contrast with the theme of our party , which is black and white and denim jeans 'coz it's glam rock .
