Was Proposed to Today!

If this proposal would have came 30 years ago I would be jumping up and down and screaming yes. But at my age...... the insurance laws....the crap I would have to wade in.... I said No and explained. I was flattered but things are okay as they are and no one loses insurance coverage because the price would rise when two incomes combined. Now you know why some people don`t get married, because the government enforced laws.

30 years ago living together might have been frowned on, but these days it's the 'norm'. Though it's outrageous if it costs more to be married than not.

Yes, the government will tax the heck out of you, combining income would mean paying MORE for insurance and the list goes on.

I think the government should get out of the marriage business. There is no excuse for making married couples pay taxes, or other fees, at a higher rate than two single people living together.

There are problems with not being married as well, like the laws of confidentiality when one is ill and only the next of kin can authorize treatment or be informed of treatment.

Gosh, I wish someone would propose to me! However, I can understand the reasons not to get married, but if there is a will there is a way!

Could you just live together and be happy. My Aunt had done that for forty years.

When I got married (45 years ago) to live together without being married was not an option. We would have been more than happy to avoid marriage, there are more cons than pros in being married.

LOL. I thought for 2 seconds and the pro`s and con`s flooded my mine. No is the perfect answer. With some women I know they crave to be married, to carry someone else`s name, been there done that so I already know just changing your name means nothing if the love is not there.

I've been married for forty one years. As our children were growing up we calculated how much less income tax would be paid if we weren't married.
