What The Heck Is A Cake Shake?

Tomorrow despite the extreme cold my son, husband and myself are going to drive 25 miles north to my sister's house to go out to lunch with her and her husband. Originally my son wasn't going to go with us until he found out where we were going. It's called Portillos Hot Dogs. It is a Chicago chain restaurant with famous Chicago Hot Dogs being their signature offering. But they make the most amazing Italian Beef Sandwiches I have ever had. And my sister says they also have the best chocolate cake ever made. So we shall see. When my son heard where we were going he decided to go as he has heard about their Cake Shakes. They take that most wonderful of all chocolate cake they make and add it to a chocolate shake, and he has to have one lol. Silly boy sounds like chocolate overload to me. I may have to have a sip of his shake but I don't care for things floating around in my shake. The more they can cram into a milkshake the better as far as my son is concerned. So does a cake shake sound good to you guys?

I'm a purest when it comes to certain foods, so that would not appeal to me. However, give me a slice of cake or a shake. Let me know how that sip tastes!

@AbbyGreenhill No kidding, I don't have shakes much either, you buy one they cost an arm and a leg and they are so darn big who the heck can even finish them. So now and then I will have a sip of hubbies shake but not often,.

No, not me only because I'm aware of everything that goes in my mouth...I avoid milkshakes because of calories and fat but I love chocolate cake and I would have a piece but not the two together. Let us know how good it is!!

It really does. Intriguing. Have a good trip and time at the restaurant. It's been a while since I've had a good Italian beef sandwich. Enjoy!

@fishtiger58 When I lived in Illinois there was a restaurant almost across the street from where we lived called Nana's. It had the best Italian beef sandwiches I've ever eaten. They also did their own fries and put them right on the sandwich. - Yum. My mouth is now watering.

Actually yes it does! My husband used to make me fresh shakes in the blender. I'd often choose an ice cream with peanut butter cups in it, and they'd fall to the bottom and I'd get to eat them after the rest of the shake was gone!

I'm not sure a cake shake appeals to me. Now just a vanilla milkshake that goes down quite nicely although I think it's too cold today.

I have never had one and I don't mind trying new things. In our country, the nearest I have heard of this, is when we put cake and ice creme together. I forgot what we call this. I hope your son enjoys his treat!
