What to do with the space under my stairs?

I have some extra unused space under my stairs which I thought of converting into something usable and nice looking. I am not home now or otherwise I would've shared a picture of that space. It is located between the entrance and the garden, so a book library or an office would not be appropriate. I thought of converting it into shoe cabinet or a place to store cleaning materials. How would you use that space?

I have converted mine into a room for keeping odds and ends. There is a proper door to it.

@Madshadi That space is next to the kitchen and is very useful.

Thanks for the photo that looks very nice but the space isn't as big as in the photo. Not that high either.

@Madshadi It's something I want to do myself at some point, but it would require a bit of work sorting out the electricity metre as well. Under-stairs space is hard to use efficiently; you either can't get at stuff or there are large amounts of room left unused.

Oh that's brilliant! Thanks for taking the time to find the picture. That could definitely work. Since my space is not that wide or high I would need less of those.

@Madshadi Can't have enough storage space right? =) Plus when your daughter grows up she'll have lots of toys! You might want to hide the clutter.

That seems to be the prevailing opinion here. I think it's the best idea for me.

@infatuatedbby yeah I haven't thought of that. What am I going to do with all those toys? My father used to trip on mine when I was little

Certainly for storage of some sort. It is difficult to have to much storage.

You would have to be careful that whatever you store there doesn't detract from the overall appearance of the area.

You are right. But if I would to store something there, I would convert it into a cabinet first

I have no stairs, but when I did the space under the stairs was used for storage.

Yes probably the best place to store things if you don't have a basement

I might have used it a secret room for my kid, or may be a cozy sitting space, and if nothing else, a storage area.

That's a nice idea. Maybe when my 4 months old is a little bigger.
