What Do You Put In the Inside and Outside Pockets?

When it comes to bags, I need one outside pocket and one inside pocket. The outside pocket should be big enough for one ballpen, my 5 keys with 3 keychains, a handkerchief, and my fingers to reach in and take them out. I make sure the ballpen I have is retractable so there's no need to cap, uncap, or lose the cap! I also stuff bus tickets, train cards, and claim stubs there. For the inside pocket, it should also be roomy enough for my phones and my card holder. Both inside and outside pockets must be zippered. But I don't want too many pockets and zippers, either. What do you put in the inside and outside pockets of your bag?

I use the outside one for eyedrops and lip balm, the inside one for tampons and meds.

For the outside pocket of my bags it is the folds of toilet paper and the packet of wipes i put in there . I also have a ballpen there . For the inner pocket would be my white flower , compact powder , comb , and keys . I also have a sleek bottle of perfume there which i use on sudden special occasions amongst the other occasions .

because white flower is your all purpose and emergency 'remedy.' it reminds me of tiger balm and winter green.

@SIMPLYD nobody seems to use them anymore. they've been taken over by efficascent oil, katinko and pau liniment.

Oh, I have my pen, lipstick, and compact powder in my inside zipped pocket which usually is not too roomy. If my handbag has an outside pocket, I put my mobile and keys in there for easy access.

somehow i'm not surprised you also have a pen, too. ugh, powder is useless on my face. for those who drive, yes, the keys should be easy to take out.

@hereandthere I love the pen I have in there right now... It's a BIC 4-color retractable pen with bright cool colors of pink, purple, baby blue, and neon green... The make-ups are in there in case I'm meeting people and need to touch up a bit...

@sishy7 oh, i had that, too, in the past - black, red, blue and green, and of course, i used up the green first! but the one in my bag is for filling out forms and signatures, so it's either blue or black. i'm curious where and when you use those bright and neon colors. lipstick, comb, wet wipes, etc go to what we call toiletry kits.

I have all sorts of things. I am a bit paranoid about not having a pen so sometimes I found I have up to 5 pens which is about 3 too many! :)

sometimes there is no pen or you have to wait your turn, so i'd rather have my own. are all those 5 pens yours or you accidentally took home with you?

@hereandthere No, they are my pens. I see one on the table and wonder if I have one in my bag so I pop it in in case. The next day I'll do the same thing again. etc until I have lots of pens in my bag and none in the house.

my niece always forgets to empty the pockets and just dump her clothes in the machine so there would be small bits of white sticking to the laundered clothes afterwards

@Hannihar i've been safety pins get bent. what's scary are the coins because they can get stuck and affect the motor.

@hereandthere I have also done that without checking the pockets and it was a mess afterwards.

I have a key inside the small pocket, so if my large set of keys aren't in my bag I'm not locked out of the house. My outside pocket has a water bottle.

on the outside if there is outside pockets i keep my chap stick and some money if there is zippers. On the inside of my bag i keep my medicine i take with me, body spray, feminine stuff if need it and my wallet and phone. I carry my life with me most times as I'm hardly ever home.

I think my current bag may have too many pockets. One side has a zippered and non-zippered pockets . . . same with the other side. I have 3 zippered sections to my purse, and I may have one pocket inside, but I don't really use it. As I am disorganized, things go pocket hopping in my purse . The main things in the pockets are probably keys, mints, tissues, recent receipts, phone, and possibly loose change.

It seems the more important things that must be used later would be on the inside. The items you need sooner would be on the outside.

Where do you put your wallet? I just bought a bag yesterday and I made certain the zippered pocket was large enough to hold my wallet. Everything else goes into the main body of the bag.

my wallet is inside the main body of the bag, along with water bottle, umbrella, a cloth ecobag, and toiletry kit.

Like you, the outside pockets are for keys and pens. Although I don't carry bags that often. I was looking for a bag for my wife, though and I'm saving for one that we saw last night.

I used the outside pocket for pens, purse and my meds while the inside pockets are my wallets with ID's and other documents.
