A Zoo in the Garden

Rebelann1949 (rebelann) and I have been discussing what fun it would be to have a zoo of fibreglass animals. She remarked that people would call her that 'crazy lady with the plastic zoo'. We have a friend who lives in Nannup, Western Australia, who has imported, at great expense, at least several life-size fibreglass native African animals including an elephant, a rhinocerous and some zebras. She says herself she is eccentric but people love to drive by her garden and see the animals. She has them near the boundary so people can admire them without needing to call in. It would be a bit of a surprise to suddenly see a look-alike elephant in someone's garden.

What a beautiful picture. That would be wonderful to see. I imagine they would be quite expensive to buy.

WOW, that has to be totally Kool, especially since all of them are life sized. I imagine it was extremely expensive to have all those plastic ....umm, err, fiberglass .... kritters made to scale and then to have them put in place on her grounds. Would be fun to see that's a fact. Well, in her defense, she has all those pets without all the mess

And they don't eat the plants so it's all good. They were very expensive, I do know that, as they were shipped in from South Africa.

That is a very good idea. I would like to share with you this garden zoo in one of the famous resorts in my hometown. These animals are made from Marble. My hometown is called the Marble Country because it is the source of marble stones here in the Philippines.

What if they really attract live animals. Would be more interesting then. This reminds me of an image I saw of a huge garden full of plastic flowers.

There are no animals like these in Australia and in that area, there would only be kangaroos.

The garden looks cool with zoo animals in it. Does your friend have a big garden? And the dog in the picture, is it real?

Yes, she does have a big garden and I think the dog is meant to be a lion cub and it is fibreglass too.

Some are too big to be easy to steal and I don't know how heavy they are although I think fibreglass might be quite light. You would need to hide them if you did steal them wouldn't you? :)

That would be fun to stroll around that garden looking at all the 'zoo animals.' I imagine that if an elephant suddenly appeared in someone's garden, it would create quite a stir around town!
