Newsflash! Someone saw a snowflake

This has to be one of the silliest snow headlines! I am always amazed at the way Oxford reacts to snow. Oxfordshire (gasp!) has had a couple of snowflakes! Having lived in the North and in Derbyshire where you get real snow it always makes me laugh. On Derbyshire my kids once managed to build a real igloo. However, just now I am in South London with my daughter and we have about a quarter of an inch here and snow with rain. I doubt it will last till morning.

It must be a stray snowflake from the North. I live in Manchester and heavy snow is predicted for tomorrow.

@Jackalyn We have travel issues in the North when it snows heavy. This amuses me because we often had deep snow when I was young and could cope easily, but nowadays people do not know how.

I may not get back to Oxfordshire tomorrow if Oxford does actually get real snow!

The BBC has forecast "Heavy Snow" for Cambridge. I keep looking out of the window but, so far, it's just bleak and rainy.

It went like that here in London now. Rather disapppointing from the snowman point of view.

Heavy means an inch or so I guess.

@Jackalyn In our case, it seems to have meant a light crusting on the top of cars and just a little whiteness (in patches) on well-insulated roofs! It seems that parts of London and Essex had more. Much more worrying is the potential flooding on the East coast due to a high tide and strong onshore winds. I'd love to live close to the sea but not in a caravan park on old sand dunes or in any low lying area!

No snow here in my part of the Eastern Angles yet, although it is expected still, allegedly. Lots of homes have been evacuated along the east coast though, so that is dominating local news.

It must be so horrible to have to leave your home like that.

That is funny. Your kids made a real igloo, that must have been fun.

If it snowed here it would probably make headlines where you are! But newspapers tend to overreact don't they?

@Jackalyn Do you know how long you'll be in London this time?
