Have You Ever.....???

Have you ever lost your faith? I know I have, it was a period in my life, when actually I was turning or neglecting my faith. It seemed that at every corner in my life, it turned into something bad happening. It was like the saying "If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all." I began to doubt my faith. I still had some faith, just enough to question it. I believed I was a good person. I tried to help others and tried to live a good life. I believed I should live a good life for God to give me things I needed in life. But it seemed to me, that once I got some thing I needed, HE took it a way (not literally.) I began to wonder why "these" things were happening to me? I thought He had abandoned me? I saw others that were just like me going through things like I was and would tell them there was a reason for it. Yeah, I know....Practice what you preach, but I thought God knew how strong I was and that I was a good person, so really "Why was He doing this to ME?" The way I saw it was the other person, always had had things "good" happen to them so now it was their turn to have some thing "bad" happen. I was thinking I had ALL this bad happening to me, when am I getting a break? I even rationalized that God should know how strong I was, so still why ME? Finally that's when I realized that all the thinking I could do on my own to rationalize why bad things were happening to me... I realized it was just to ME. Why just ME? Then I realized that I needed help from Him!! It was then that I regained my faith and He came into my life. Now, some people might not believe or have faith, but it's like when you've broken a bone, you really don't realize what it's like until it happens to you. I realized from that moment that He was with me all the time, I just didn't realize it. Once I began seeking Him for help was when He took away the "bad." When I quit doubting my faith and even started sharing that He is with us, only then did things get better. I have never doubted Him again. I think that why the world is the way it is today, is that some where along the way, people lost heir faith. People don't help others, they don't pray for an intervention for things to get better, we're domicile and think things should be this way and accept it. We need to start thinking and praying for others. Share our experiences, that we all need to have a faith in our life. ~Peace~ photo courtesy of pixabay

At one point we were homeless, living in a tent with our 3 month old daughter at the time. We were hungry and cold, it was the middle of winter. It was a horrible time for us. I did lose my faith for a little while. I felt like God forgot about us or just didn't care anymore. We were about to eat our last hot dog and my husband prayed-thanking God for the food and asking Him to help us. My husband went to the local pizza shop and begged them for a job-and he got it! While he delivered pizza's my daughter and I were in the car with him. We saved money and got a motel finally which felt like Heaven compared to the freezing cold tent! My faith was slowly restored as things slowly improved for us.

That was definitely one time when I questioned my faith, but as always I came through it. I figured God was testing me, but when the "bad" things that kept coming was when I struggled because I knew that by now the "bad" things was throwing my way, He above all people knew that I was strong!! Thanks for sharing your story with us!! I knew you were a very strong person @LovingMyBabies!

my atheism kicked in by the mid-80's so I guess I lost faith and never recovered it from a Christian point of view

I think at one time or another we put ourselves into not believing God is with us, because it's natural to turn away from some one or something that we're trusting to get us through it. When we realize just exactly what He went through for us, then we might see what we went through wasn't so bad!

As long as we live in this world - all of us will face trials, but with faith God will be with us to help us through.

When I was in my teens I stopped believing in God because of things that I saw happening in churches and with some religious leaders. However, as I looked at other religions I saw that they were not all alike.

@STOUTjodee Yes, many religions and religious leaders and people have given religion a bad name. Religion is simply a way of life followed by a number of people. However if a religion does more bad than good then it is not for me. The Bible makes a lot of sense to me and I love to meet spiritual people.

This is why I consider myself a spiritual person, not a religious person. I realized that God is every where not just in a church. Also found that preachers, priests act as if they are God. So, I will continue to be a spiritual person and have faith.

Expert ability requires expert challenges. Do we really want to be totally free of the adversities and challenges in our lives? When times are good, we simply sit back and enjoy the ride. When adversity hits, we have to think, study, plan, analyze and learn so much on the road to resolution. One should never be so ready to give up. There is always an answer. Intelligence will find a way. Further, if God wants you here on Earth, He will find a way to feed you.

"The LORD the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth." God, our Father will always be faithful to forgive a repentant child. :-) Beautiful story.
