For my daughter. She completed her in-class training for the security screening at the airport. Her final test garnered her a 91%. Today she started training out on the floor and will be out on the floor all next week. She'll be working crazy hours though. And she will be working at the airlines as well. But she'll be raking in the dough I guess. Get her that car she so desperately needs. Though I watch Border Security on television, I thought I knew a lot about what they do in the security screening, but she told me a lot more tonight. She was doing pat downs today and described how they are actually done. It's really quite interesting. I'm pretty proud of her. She is a very judgy person so to be working so closely with the public like that is a huge step. Next Step: Canadian Border Services.

Good for her. Congratulations on her new job. It is a good one so she should be able to get her car soon. There is a lot to it but she will do just fine.

She has anxiety issues so she is worrying about the transition. She already got a schedule that had her working until 10pm and then back in the next day at 3am. She'll probably make an attempt to get that changed.

@Happy2BeMe She did a 3am to 11am shift today. I asked her why so early since no one is even AT the airport that early, but they have to set things up I guess. She was out all day yesterday tubing so I don't think she got a whole lot of sleep, but she seemed in good spirits when she got home... now back to bed I believe. We'll see if she does a trade with someone with that ridiculous shift.

As often as I have crossed the border, I always find that watching Border Security doesn't represent any crossing I have ever made.

@patgalca blonde (now grey) and blue eyes help as well. We have a friend who gets pulled over every time...dark brown hair and brown eyed male....he fits a certain demographic.

@Morleyhunt And sometimes it's not just the look of the person but their attitude or movements. The officers at CBS learn to read people (just like cops do) and they can tell if someone is nervous and/or suspicious.

There is nothing I can do to change my daughter's attitude. She's very confrontational with me. And she knows she judgy... and she is always worried about what people think of her.

Good for her!! I'm really glad that everything is going well for her so far. I hope that everything continues to go well for her. I've watched the Border Security show on TV as well, and I'm sure that there's a lot more to it.

@patgalca It makes sense that they don't want to show everything on the show. The story your daughter's teacher said is quite interesting. I have to agree with you. Had she just gone through, she probably would have gotten away with it.

That is so cool. I want to work at airlines too when I was young but I guess that is not really for me. I am so happy for you, I guess you are reallybsonproud of your daughter and she has high grade. God bless ghe world of your hands.

She had a mock test earlier in the week where she got 83%. The testing was observing the x-ray machine as 50 different bags went through and spotting the anomolies. She said there were times where she just couldn't spot something, but could spot it when standing behind someone else looking at it. She was worried she wouldn't do well so thrilled that she got such a high score.

congrats to your daughter. I don't think shows ever show the true reality of all the aspects of a job.
