Taking Care of Myself

Yesterday I finally did something positive for me. I've needed a chiropractor for years, but always felt the need to hold back, mostly because of my younger son who considered all chiropractor's as quacks. I knew better, but I wasn't going to argue with him.
When I broke my right ankle a few years back and my leg and foot swelled, I had the idea that I needed a realignment of my hips, especially since I had been wearing a boot that caused me to walk lopsided. When I got the boot and cast off people asked me why I was walking like a duck.
I called my friend's chiropractor yesterday and he was able to see me yesterday. When I told him I needed my hips realigned due to having broken both legs, he agreed with me and after taking X-rays to determine how fragile I was, proceeded with an adjustment. He said he could tell the difference in my walking just with the first adjustment. He also said it would take a few treatments to get everything aligned properly.
I'm really hoping that this will allow me to not only walk better, but also cause me not to be out of breath so quickly. I'll be going back again next week. I'm greatly encouraged that everything will be normal soon with my body and the swelling will go down and I won't have legs that look like tree trunks anymore but normal looking legs.
I'm also hoping I'll be able to walk and stand for longer periods of time and I won't need the mobile cart at the stores anymore. That would be great!
I'm also hoping this will help in my efforts to lose weight. Especially if I'm more mobile than I am now.
Have you done anything that was purely for yourself lately? What was it? Thanks for reading.

I am a firm believer in chiropractors and I have gone when I need adjustments. They do help with many things and I found my chiropractor was able to help me better with bronchitis than any prescriptions my doctor ordered. Hope your able to walk better after a few visits

I worried it wouldn't be covered by Medicaid, but it is, thankfully and the co-pay isn't much. Have you checked around, perhaps the co-pay wouldn't be too bad.

I went to the chiropractor when I was pregnant a few weeks ago. My sacrum bone was not aligned right so she adjusted it and my baby went head down finally like he was supposed to after that. It helped me too. =)

Your back and neck will thank you when you finally do. I found out my osteoporosis medication is working. My X-rays weren't as transparent as they were in the past. Nice solid bones in my spine.

We all go through this and that is making up our mind. And when we finally reach where we want to go it is such a nice feeling.

the muscles being wrong so long, you may have to do some stuff to keep the adjustments in place
