A dreary day ended in hearing my father was in an ATV accident

Today it stormed a lot! Thunder and lightning, heavy rain and hail. Every time it stopped a free minutes later it seemed another storm was back. It seemed to just want to circle around out area and linger. The edges of the roads were flooding. This lasted most of the day.
I went to my boyfriend's house for about 3 hours. We started watching a movie on Netflix with Will Farrell in it called "Everything Must Go" and then the darn power went out. After a few minutes it came back on but we could not think of the title of the movie. We saw a Netflix original series with Drew Barrymore in it so we decided since I love her to just watch that. It was the first episode and I do not want to watch anymore it was so lame.
My boyfriend suddenly remembered the name of the Will Ferrell movie so we went back to watching that. Unfortunately the darn power went out again so after about 10 minutes we decided to call it quits. I went home and he went to the bar to eat.
When I got home I got texts from my mother and father telling me that my dad had gotten into an accident on his four wheeler. He fell down 100 ft drop on a really steep cliff when he hit a patch of ice. The guy on the back jumped off but my father slid off and fell backwards.
The four wheeler landed on top of him. He pushed it off of him and climbed the steep bank. On either side of the cliff were big rocks so he was very lucky he was not killed. He has a big bump on his forehead and his eyes are almost swelled shut. He and the guys then had to push the four wheeler up this huge cliff.
He is thankful to be alive and feeling very lucky. He did not feel he needs to go to the hospital so I am praying he will be okay.

I hope he changes his mind and gets himself checked out. With having a head injury he really should. Praying he will be okay.

@shaggin I hope that someone is watching him closely. Men are so stubborn. Considering that he has had strokes, he needs to get checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Oh how scary. He should have went to the hospital just to get checked out. It could have been so much worse. I will say a prayer for him.

@Happy2BeMe My dad was glad the guy on the back jumped off or he likely would have been killed. My dad came to town today and went to the doctor. He had xrays done or his head and his chest. He looks worse in person then I expected from the photos.

My cousin was married to a guy who broke his back on one. He was fine after it healed thankfully. My boyfriend also broke his back on one when he was 12. He has a bone disease called brittle bones so his break easier. He didn't know it was broke until a few days later when he could barely move he was in so much pain. He hadn't told his parents about it because he didn't want to get in trouble. He is lucky he was not paralyzed.

@1creekgirl He has a neighbor who is checking in on him. My mother is 1000 miles away so she is of no use. He plans to drive to town tomorrow my sister said but that worries me too him driving with his face swollen.

@shaggin Is there anyone with him tonight? I'm really concerned about concussions since I had one last summer. They are more dangerous than a lot of people realize. I'm not trying to scare you.

My day was okay I was just very worried about my dad after I heard what happened. He came up yesterday to town and finally went to the doctor. The doctor wasn't to worried but he did do an x-ray of his chest and head. I need to text him to see what the results were as my dad said they would be back by today. Thank you for commenting on this as it reminded me to text him. I'm so forgetful.

I just got the shivers reading about this accident. Very definitely God was your father's co-pilot and also gave him the strength to get up and get moving. May blessing to your dad and hope he feels much better soon.

@bluesa I don't know why he didn't go to the emergency room up where he was (he lives between two houses 4 hours apart) but he could not drive here until today as his eyes were all swollen. He went to his doctor here who did not seem to worried as my dad wasn't vomiting or having headaches or anything. He got xrays done on his head and chest and will get the results tomorrow.

I texted him today to see how he is. He sent me a text saying okay but he is at church. Best place to be I am sure when people see how bad he looks they will say a prayer for him. My mom sent me a text of a photo of what he looks like today and it is terrible. He looks scary how swollen and purple his eye lids are. I feel like crying looking at it. My mom said he is supposed to come to town today but I don't know if he should drive like that.

He isn't vomiting or anything but he is very swollen as you can see in the photo I attached that he sent my mother this morning. I am worried sick. I offered to pick him up if he was the to come here for a week but I don't think he is going to.

@shaggin Well his doctor will sort it all out. Good for him to be checked. It really sounded like a bad accident but the fact that he could do all he did afterwords means he is probably OK.

He is very lucky he is alive and not hurt worse. It was okay about the power going out at my boyfriends as it was just nice to spend time with him no matter what. We do not get much time alone without kids. My dad came to town yesterday and finally went to the doctor. The doctor wasn't to worried about him as he wasn't vomiting or having headaches or anything. He had an x-ray done on his head and chest.

@shaggin Glad he went and was checked out he must have been hurting for him to have went in I know some men can be very stubborn when it comes to going to doctor for anything. You are so right any time youu get with your boyfriend without kids is fun..

I don't know he didn't go to the hospital when it happened. Today he is coming to town and going to his usual doctor.

Yes he should have gone to the hospital. He is coming to town today and is going to his usual doctor. I think he should have went in for testing when this all happened though in case there is internal bleeding or anything especially since he has had a few strokes in the past.

His chest is sore where the handlebar hit it. His face looks awful but he said it doesn't hurt. It upsets me to see him like this I hate seeing people I love hurt. I am just so thankfully he wasn't hurt worse. He went to the doctor yesterday and had x-rays done on his chest and head but the doctor isn't very concerned.

I love Netflix and I knew atv and gocarts are dangerous.I rode a neighbors youth atv and had a blast.I used to have a thunder kart go cart.

My father has lots of toys. He is careful with the grandkids on them or when my mother is around but my mother was not around this time.... He took a friend to see a frozen waterfall and they slipped on ice and fell over a huge cliff. He is so lucky to be alive. It seems he may have a bruised rib and obvious bruises on his face but others is good.
