We now know that my sister-in-law did not break her hip in her fall yesterday. What a relief. It is badly bruised and turning all kinds of beautiful colors as bruises do. As for her wrist, she broke a little bone in it that will need surgery. They will be putting a small metal plate and some screws to hold it together. The surgery will be this afternoon at 1 pm. In a couple of days she will be coming home with us so we can help her while she is out of commission. She is in a lot of pain but they are giving her those pain killing shots that make her not care so much. All it all, it loos like she was pretty lucky. We are thankful for that. It could have been so much worse. Have a great day and keep on writing.

I'm sorry she needs surgery but glad her hip isn't broke. I hope she's able to recover quickly. I will keep her in my prayers.

It sounds bad enough but could have been much worse. I guess she will find it a bit difficult to manage with a broken wrist.

She should be ok as long as she takes her time and lets her body heal.

It seems a nice to hear that. Hip dislocation or fracture is really a disabling condition. I am sure she will be fine.

@HazySue It was a terrible thing to happen if ever, my friend. I have a patient who had a hip fracture. It takes years before she recovered from it.

Thanks. I don't know what we would have done if she had broken her hip.

@Shavkat I have heard that it does take quite a while to recover from a broken hip I am so glad my SIL doesn't have to deal with one.

At least her hip is not broken, but a broken wrist is not funny too. I am really sorry.

I am so glad her hip is not broken! I was thinking rehab and walkers and all sorts of miserable things! How old is your SIL? Does she live by herself normally? I hope she doesn't have pets that need taken care of. I wish her a speedy recovery and you and your husband a good houseguest!

That's good that her hip isn't broken. The rest seems minor to what it might have been.
