When I was unemployed I usually say "I am preparing for the interviews or waiting for the call for" or sometimes I say like "I am taking rest and maintaining my body to be fit for the work" like that. Even sometimes I say "I am waiting for my dream job."

Well in my situation, I just tell everyone that I am a WAHM or work at home mom. I don't make oodles of money but what money I do make goes on my taxes, therefore I am working.

Hahaha good answer! And I want to say that I'm looking for a person who can give me 10000$ every month. Can you give? If not, then please don't ask this question again.

We all do something in life so the best answer would be telling them whatever you do.

"Nothing", I go for a plain nothing and stare at the person's eyes like "You had to not ask this". Otherwise... "I take a break", "I'm currently relaxing" or stuff like that.

I am employed but still don't always know what to tell people when they ask what I do! You see, I do different things and I end up spending ages explaining that, and telling people about what I actually do! When I've been unemployed, I have often volunteered so I would say that. And I'm a mum so I might have, occasionally, said that when asked what I do! I know people think that, if you're unemployed (or even if you're self-employed or part-time employed) that you just sit around doing nothing all day but I know very few unemployed people who actually do 'nothing'. So, if you volunteer or if you care for a family member, say so. It's still a valid job even if it's not a paid one.

Here are three possible responses: 1. "About what?" 2. "I'm retired." 3. "I'm self-employed"

I would say, I would definitely let you know first when I get a job. Now I am jobless.
