SLEEPWEAR FOR HOT SUMMER NIGHTS.

What is your most comfortable kind of sleepwear for those hot summer nights? For me it must be the minimum amount of clothing if I am to have a restful sleep. Right now we are experiencing warm days and cool nights here in the Caribbean - but it is not going to last - during the summer months temperatures could rise as high as ninety degrees in the shade. Even though nighttime is usually a bit cooler - that would still mean hot, sticky uncomfortable nights if one is not prepared. Fans blowing hot air won't help that much - and air conditioning would mean a whopping electricity bill. How do you plan to sleep cool this summer?

We don't have heat like you do, but I still prefer to sleep with nothing on. I wear a loose cotton nightie if I'm away from home.

I am tempted usually, but I don't feel safe without at least something on.

I wear a night gown similar to the one in the photo, but it is a maroon color and it is longer.

Mine is about that length and the material is very thin.

I normally sleep in a shortie nightgown. Where we are it don't gst real hot at night in the summer it cools down quite a bit.

@Tina30219 I don't mind a warm day - but not unbearably hot.

That's nice . I was born in a region where the weather is warm or hot the year around, but I much prefer cool temperatures.

My husband's philosophy is that if we pay for heat to keep warm in the winter, then we pay for a/c to keep cool in the summer. I always wear pure cotton or seersucker nightgowns or pjs, even in our winter months in Florida. It can't be cool enough for me when I sleep.

With the minimal amount of clothes possible. It's my usual sleep wear, year round. I'll dispense with the blankets of course, and probably the sheet too if it gets too hot. I do have ceiling fans in all rooms, but as you said, it would just bring more hot air instead of cooling it down. I moved here in August last year and really didn't need my A/C so we'll see what happens here this year. Last year wasn't very warm, which was nice. I hope it does the same this year, then it will be more comfortable.

@Kandae11 Not here either. I think there is a happy medium somewhere on this planet. I just don't live there.

Won't it be nice if there was a balance? - not too much heat, or too much cold. I would love warm, balmy days and cool evenings - but that won't happen the year around.

@Courtlynn Air conditioning would solve the problem - but in my country it would send the electric bill way too high.

That should do it.

If it's really hot, I will keep the window wide open all night. I keep my hair very short. I'll wear nothing but my bottom undies and have never needed air-conditioning so far.

@Kandae11 I also want to mention that I won't read posts like this in the summer heat. This post is better for the winter when it's cold. .

@1hopefulman Then it's a good thing I wrote it in advance. During the summer, we can discuss cold weather.

I'm not sure what I'd be doing. Our fans help a lot. I should think our nights aren't quite as hot as yours. I usually wear a thin cotton nightie.

I usually wear as little as possible, and keep a fan or AC on. I also have a cooling pillow. What I would really like to get is a dehumidfier..because I think I woud stay cool if I had that..it is not the summer heat, it is the humidity.

I wear cotton tops and shorts during summer. They are the most comfortable. Even over here the heat can be unbearable. So we have to use the fan at night. But no air conditioner as my allergies start flaring up when we use the ac

Underwear only and lighter blankets. I still need blankets to feel comfortable. At the worst, I'd sleep on the cool floor. These days have been windy here instead, summer doesn't seem too close at the moment.

This is April and those in the city are already beginning to feel the heat. Summer weather usually starts from June and continues to early September. A hammock on the veranda would be cool - but unsafe.
